Advantages: Widely available
Disadvantages: Tastes revolting, Normally expensive
This, in fact, is about as far removed from the cider you're looking for as can be. Cider has quite a bad press at times - it's associated with underage drinks at parties, and bitter tastes, and generally not being that nice. And this is a real shame, since most cider is lovely stuff - it can be refreshing, light, easy to drink, and very tasty. However, most bars serve Dry Blackthorn. This is not refreshing; it leaves you more thirsty than when you started. This is not light; after half a pint you're left wondering if you'll be able to finish it. This is not easy to drink, and it's not very tasty - it's revolting. Dry Blackthorn doesn't taste of apples. I've no idea what it *does* taste of, but I wonder if any apples were involved in its creation at all. Apples may not be allowed within a mile radius of the factory for all I can taste. Whatever you do, try to go to a pub or bar where you can buy another cider - Scrumpy Jack or Strongbow preferably. Even better, find somewhere which does proper scrumpy, and you'll never go back to Dry Blackthorn again.

leahslad - 15/05/01 Hate cider personally although for some reason, if its really hot and I've been doing excercise (such as football) its amazingly how nice a cold cider tastes. Steve. |
