God knows how many of these the locals have to drink before getting into their sozzled state! This one comes in a plush green can with Egils in small writing and Pilsner below and looks more stylish than most Icelandic lagers, it's also commonly available throughout the country (where alcohol is available at least), it goes down easily enough but that's because it's glorified water....more

Egils Pilsener doesn't hold up in the same fashion as it's golden cousin, weaker and just as flat but lacking in any taste what so ever, the Czechs would be heartbroken that this beer is anyway put in the same category. Iceland had prohibition up until 1989, you'd think that would give them time to master some recipes in their cauldrons but it's clearly not the case, this is probably the best example of what's wrong with Icelandic beer.
