Advantages: yum, yum, yum

Disadvantages: you can get extremely drunk

First of all, I’m not drunk, but I AM slightly sozzled! – And because of you lot I’ve had to drink a WHOLE bottle of wine just so I could bring you the virtues and attributes of this delicious wine. Tchh!

Ok, first off, DON’T put your wine in the fridge for longer than 10 minutes, (unless it’s bubbly) as this will take some of the taste and aroma away. ALWAYS store your wine horizontally, this keeps the cork damp and will be easier to pull and NEVER use a small glass, what’s the point!!!

Ernest and Julio Gallo wines have been going for 70ish years and it has to be my most favouritest tipples I’ve been drinking for the best part of 2 years, from the expensive ‘Turning Leaf’ and dry ‘Colombard’ to their excellent ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’. But the ‘White Grenache’ has to be the most drunk in our household.

Down to serious business….. Even though this is a ‘white’ wine, it actually has a light pint or ‘rose’ tint to it. This is due (apparently) to the ‘rapid separation of the grape’s juice from the skin’. The bouquet is delightfully fruity with a slight peaty tang. The taste has a very-berry like quality, with it being relatively sweet it would (and does) go great with chicken, desserts (yum, choccy cake and Gallo!) and most light flavoured foods.

The glug from the bottle is as soothing as the clean look it has in your glass. Now on the website they say the Alcohol is 9.80%, now on the bottle I have in front of me it says 10% - are they trying to diddle us out of something here???

This wine won’t make your lips pucker when you take a sip. Nor is it sweet enough to make your taste buds go crazy longing for more sugar (mine already do that anyway!). There is no after-taste; just a nice reminder of something yummy has just passed through your mouth. Three glasses are enough to mak
e you enjoy your evening, a whole bottle might make you want to start singing the latest Boyzone record (or whatever takes your fancy!?)

This wine is brilliant to take to both parties and special occasions alike. Although, for those special Sunday afternoons when the bf’s on the computer and I need to indulge myself, there is nothing better than a big bubble bath, a box of Thorntons continentals and a bottle of Gallo White Grenache. Go on – indulge yourself, or your partner!

Cheers loulou6 for your great review! You're right, this wine is lush...I'm sitting at the computer drinking a bottle now! Only half way through & I feel quite tipsy already! Can't wait to try it with Thornton's Choccies!!
