As instant coffee goes this one is a great buy. Most instant coffees' marketing companies are either making their coffee attractive by taste or by the appeal of having goods that are fairly traded. I personally think that fair traded coffees taste less manufactured and more genuine. But this might just be a feel good placebo from spending the extra 40 or so pennies on that fair trade marked coffee. This coffee, however, is definitely a good mix between cost, quality and 'ethical feel good'. It is a good aromatic coffee that is both comforting and awakening. My quest for a good fair trade coffee continues. Despite Cafédirect's organic, fair-trade, decaffeinated (i.e. coffee-free coffee) being good the caffeinated blend was poor to say the least. A scout of the supermarket shelves threw up what seemed to be a new contender in the supermarket fair-trade range - FFI Fair Instant Gold. It wasn't organic but then I wasn't that bothered (it doesn't yet rain organic rain and, yes, I know that becomes a circular argument). The aroma on opening the jar is better than Cafédirect. It's a reasonably robust aroma but there's still that sense of dustiness. It's unmistakeably coffee though - which is a huge improvement! ... Read the complete review
