Advantages: Great Taste.

Disadvantages: Not Exactly Healthy.

From the second I actually arrive at work it is non-stop until lunch with only the occasional cup of tea to keep me going. This is why that when I have power worked my way to lunch time I like to have a nice thirst quenching cold drink to refresh me with my lunch. I usually go for Fanta and lately I have been buying a lot of the lemon flavour mainly because it has been on offer. Anyway I like it so I thought I would write a review for all of those wondering what it is like.

My Experience:

Right so I am at lunch and I take out my bottle of Fanta lemon and the first thing you will notice is that everything is yellow. The label is yellow and green and features the Fanta word in its special funky looking font. You will also see the words icy lemon which I don’t know about you but to me makes the drink sound irresistible. I am a big sucker for advertising and how things are marketed so I love seeing good descriptions. The ingredients and nutritional information are also printed on this label and unlike some products, the Fanta lemon bottle actually uses a size font that is ok to read.

Going back to the yellow theme, the cap of the bottle is yellow with Fanta emblazoned on it and helpfully with an arrow telling you which way you have to twist to open the bottle. The final thing that is yellow is the drink itself which to be honest does look a very murky cloudy yellow looking at it now. The colour puts my sister off this kind of drink but I think it looks nice. It is the kind of yellow that just screams at you that there is a load of colouring that has been added but hey most drinks have these days.

So I think I should tell you at this point that this is a fizzy drink so if you prefer still drinks then do not buy it. Also a warning so that if you drop it, try not to open it straight away as you will get covered in the drink which then turns sticky so it is not advisable.

The next thing that you can notice is the smell as you can actually smell the lemon which is nice. There are too many of these drinks that just don’t smell like the thing they are meant to taste like but with Fanta it is obvious that real lemon juice has been used. The smell is not overpowering though so you do not have to worry about lemon wafting about the office but it is nice.

Tasting the drink is very nice indeed. The drink tastes like a toned down version of lemon. In a way it tastes like those little lemon hard boiled sweets you can buy which have the sherbet in the middle. The lemon taste is not overpowering but is very potent so if you are not a big fan of lemons then I would stay away from this drink if you hadn’t guessed that already. Although this is a fizzy drink it is very easy to gulp down and I have drank two for my lunch just today which is a bit excessive but never mind. It does not leave you with a bloating feel in your stomach but it does tend to fill you up a little bit. After drinking there is no nasty aftertaste and if you eat straight after drinking it will not cloud the taste of the food at all.

Verdict:

I would recommend buying this drink as I would definitely buy it again. To be honest it is not like me to have fizzy drinks now as I am on a bit of a health kick. Today however I had forgot to fill my flask up with some squash from home so me being a bit of a cheap skate when it comes to buying lunch so buy one get one free fizzy pop will do every so often.

With each bottle being 500ml you get quite a lot for your money, much more than in any can so it is better value for money and plus you always have the option that if you don’t finish it straight away then you can seal it again and save it for later. This however was not needed with me as I found that I liked it so much that I can actually drink the bottle within a very short space of time.

The taste of this drink is gorgeous. I am a big fan of lemon flavoured things as long as they don’t have that really nasty acidic taste to them which makes you pull a funny face but with this it is a powerful taste but very mild at the same time so it is very enjoyable. Even my sister likes this drink although she swears off anything lemon like. The fact that you do not get an after taste is nice too as that would be awful with a lemon drink. While this drink is nice though it is not exactly thirst quenching hence the fact that I drank two 500ml bottles this lunchtime. Honestly I usually can never finish a bottle during the whole day at work! Anyway I think the fact that these types of fizzy drinks do contain a lot of E numbers and sugar they do actually make you thirstier.

The best thing to do though is to make sure you do not drink too much of this type of drink because it is healthier to drink water or squash then these sugary fizzy drinks all of the while. This lemon taste does taste sweet and like all fizzy drinks you can taste and sense that the sugar is there so you do not get the healthy feeling from drinking this.

I think that I would buy this drink again if I needed to and it is definitely one of my favourites out of many of the fizzy drinks out there to buy. There is a lot in a bottle and although it does not exactly quench your thirst it is still a very refreshing drink to have especially when you drink it straight out of the fridge.

Thanks for reading.
