Advantages: Low calorie, orange taste

Disadvantages: Loses its fizz

When it comes to fizzy drinks I only drink diet! I'm more than well aware than fizzy carbonated drinks like diet coke, Fanta Zero etc are not the healthiest of things to drink but I still will drink them. It's the choice that I make and if others don't like fizzy drinks then don't drink them.....

So as a regular Diet Coke drinker I was looking for a bit of a change....... So Fanta Zero seemed like a perfect choice. A low calorie orange fizzy soft drink yum!

It's only been in the last two years that I have opted for "diet" drinks. I used to drink regular coke and regular Fanta but I just didn't like the sugary strong taste and coating left in my mouth so much which is why I switched to diet. I have always liked orange Fanta however as it was a refreshing but a strong orange tasting fizzy drink. However because it included sugar it did have a lot of calories in for what it was.... So I was much happier when a diet alternative.

Like with most Schweppes drinks the price of this varies. Some corner shops sell these for about 95p and venting machines £1- 1.50.

Per 500ml bottle Fanta Zero has
16 calories
2.8g sugar
Trace fat

The colour of the Fanta Zero is bright orange. Very unnatural but what you would expect from something with a lot of additives and sweeteners in.

Being honest I prefer the taste of Fanta Zero as the orange taste isn't so overpowering and strong. But for some people they may find that this tastes watery in comparison to the regular drink so this is purely my personal preference.

I mentioned that I didn't like full sugar fizzy drinks as they leave a sugary coating on the inside of my mouth and teeth. Fanta Zero doesn't do this in the same way as regular Fanta however when I ran my tongue over my teeth after drinking it did feel slightly gritty and quite unpleasant.

One issue I did have was when I opened the 500ml bottle initially it was very fizzy. I drank approx half the bottle screwed the lid on tightly left it on my desk and an hour later took another drink. The fizz had virtually gone and the drink was extremely flat.

However taking into consideration overall taste, after taste and calorie content...... I am likely to choose Fanta Zero over regular Fanta anyday.

Summary: A low calorie alternative to traditional full sugar orange Fanta
