Advantages: Well it's beer just about

Disadvantages: Small bottles, bland taste, horrible smell

It's not only the beaches of Morocco's Atlantic Coast that deserve the red flag, their beer too deserves a bit of a warning sign. To be fair, you'll probably be considering yourself lucky to get a hold of a relatively expensive small bottle of Moroccan beer. Flag Speciale comes in either little cans or a 0.33l bottle with a small label on it. I did come across a 0.5 litre can in a booze shop in Essaouira but strangely enough it was more expensive than 2 of the smaller ones.

Not only is the size a bit of a joke but the taste is incredibly poor. The body is watery and served ice cold to contrast the Moroccan heat, it's like licking the inside of a freezer. On the other hand, that's probably the best you are going to get it because it soon gets flat and flat and warm beer is obviously no fun.

Whilst no one goes to Morocco for the booze, if you do find yourself there and a little thirsty, I'd opt for the slightly more expensive European branded beer from France or Heineken (whilst not amazing it's definitely better than this), wine or fruit juice from one of the many stalls. Tastewise this has a slightly groggy feel to it and the smell is quite toilety but considering the small bottles, you are going to need a lot of them to feel rough in the morning!

Summary: Not the best beer!
