Advantages: Tasty, smooth, cheap

Disadvantages: Not for all tastes

Fosters has something of a reputation as a lager that's entirely lacking in substance, as one of my friends said, to put it kinder than he did, "an approximation of cow urine". It's also maligned because it's on the cheaper scale of the lagers, but I must confess that I regularly drink it, not only through being a poor student, but because, strangely enough, I think its reputation is a rather underrated alcoholic beverage.

I do have to say, though, that much of its charm comes from drinking it in a pub - I've consumed a lot of it out of cans also, but it retains an almost tinny taste. However, one of the plus-sides of some of the recent cans I've seen in shops is that they're equipped with a widget, a small ball inside the can that the beer glides around, making it go down all the more smoother when you drink it. The difference from the can and draught isn't massively different, but it is undeniably better from the pub.

Whilst Stella Artois and other higher-tier, stronger lagers are nice enough, I don't really see why Fosters recieves such ardent criticism. It's a smooth, tasty lager that's light enough so as not to get you too wrecked after a few, but if you are up for getting drunk, simultaneously it's got that capability too!

Summary: A fine lager

I agree - and if anything it's much better tasting than Stella Artois
