Fraoch Heather Ale

I recently tried this at a local beer festival, and I must say it stuck with me for a variety of reasons. Fraoch is rather different in the fact that it is not brewed with hops. Instead, it uses heather which supplies a very complex taste indeed! The beer initially poured light amber but later strangely almost lingering on a tawney colour, this may be because I was having straight from the keg instead of bottled and carbonated. The taste was rather overpowering at first, the malt obvious but drowned in the foreign flavour of the heather.
