The search for a tasty drink for the Summer continues. Today I tried Frijj Chocolate Milkshake, an drinks item I normally overlook as it is hidden away in the dairy section of shops.

Packaging: The milkshake is contained within an opaque plastic white bottle, with brown patches to indicate the chocolate flavour. The Frijj logo is in bold black irregular letters and is very visible to the eye. The bottle is a plastic and is also recyclable and the volume is 500 ml. The bottle top is a screwcap, and is easy to open.

Appearance of drink: The drink is a fairly smooth brown colour. As recommended on the label, I shaked the bottle well before opening and there was no evidence of any undissolved cocoa powder in the drink.

Taste: The bottle I purchased is referred to as the "Tastiest Ever" and contains no artificial flavourings. I have to agree that the taste is excellent! The chocolate flavour is quite distinctive and smooth, and also does not taste thick or stodgy. The milkshake tastes excellent straight from the refrigerator and is very moreish.

Value for money: I purchased the bottle at my local Co-op for £1.05. This is more expensive than fizzy drinks (e.g. coca cola), but there is a deal for buying two drinks for £1.40. I did not take up this offer in case I didn't like the drink. But I will definitely buy two next time! As I enjoyed the drink I think the value for money is OK.

Healthy?: The milkshake contains a high proportion of skimmed milk which supports the statement that this product contains less than 1.5% fat. In terms of carbohydrate content, the label does not specify carbohydrates as sugars (unlike on fizzy drinks). This compares favourably with soft fizzy drinks such as coca cola which contains 10.6 g per 100 g (as sugars). The overall carbohydrate content (12.6 g per 100g) is probably due to lactose that is present in the milk. The milkshake also contains a high proportion of calcium and Vitamin B12.

Overall: This is an excellent tasting product that is very moreish and I will definitely buy this product again. I have found a winner for Summer!
