Advantages: Thick and great tasting. A variety of flavours.
Disadvantages: Can be sickly if drank too much
Frijj milkshakes are perhaps the best of the widely available milkshakes out there. First launched in 1993, this drink has become a huge commerical success, but why?
Packaged in the easily noticed, 'curvy' bottle with the now famous cow splat, the frijj milkshake is even visually interesting (it even won a design award in 1994 for this!)
But what about the taste?
Well known for its great flavour and 'thickness.' the frijj milkshake is great if you fancy a filling drink that avoids the calorie fuelled sweetness of soft drinks.
I aways find myself drawn to these if I'm in the mood for a pudding like drink that is fairly priced and great in taste. The 500ML serving is just right, and leaves me always satisfied - not too much, not too little. It also makes up 79% of your RDA of calcium as well as being gluten-free, artifical flavoring free, and suitable for vegetarians. Always a bonus.
The four common flavour are the classic chocolate milkshake (pictured) the very sweet chocolare fudge milkshake, which is my personal favourite, as well as strawberry and banana flavours. This good mix means there's a good bit of variety if you get bored of a certain flavour.
Right now there is a limited cookie flavour which is rather nice as well - although not as good as the chocolate fudge brownie flavour in my eyes. There was also a limited double thick vanilla shake in the past, but I personally found it lacking taste - luckily the common flavours do not. Other limited editions of the past have included: mint chocolate, toffee, raspberry, and chocolate orange.
These can often be found for buy one get one free or two for £1.50 in tesco's, which is a great bargain. In smaller stores they can go up to a more hefty price of £1.70+ each.
All flavours have very little extra stuff added in them, with all containing at least 90% milk. This really does add to the taste and is also pleasing on the health side as well.
Overall, the frijj milkshakes are always a good choice. Boasting great taste and thick volume, if you ever fancy an easily available milkshake, this should always be the number one choice.
