Advantages: Filling and hits sugar cravings, good source of calcium
Disadvantages: high in calories, expensive if not on offer
I remember first having these when they came out in the early 1990s. I was a kid about 12 then and thought these were great.
The packaging is also very eye catching with white and brown splodges and comes in a tough plastic bottle with a lid.
***How does it taste***
Well depending on what flavour you go for, they do chocolate, strawberry, banana and I have also seen some special editions that they have done and one is chocolate brownie., I am sure they have done vanilla too but this would not be something I go for as I'm really just into chocolate milkshake and thats how it goes.
It really is a very gloopy thick liquid, but tastes very satisfying and if you are hungry it will probably curb a few hunger pangs too. It does have a satisfying taste of chocolate and is quite Moorish but also sickly at the same time.
The taste is very sweet; if you have a sweet tooth you will love these! They hit any sugar craving pretty quickly but what puts me off is the calorie content, I am the sort of person who watches their weight and when it comes to drinks I prefer to have water, cordial or fruit juice.
It's a 500ml bottle and 100ml is 77 calories, a whole bottle is meant for one person so 5x77calories is 385 calories!! Now that is a lot just for one drink but it's ok as a one off. But at the end of it all it's just a drink isn't it?
On the plus side if you drink a full bottle of this its 84% of your RDA of calcium it also contains Vitamin b12 which is 200% of your RDA.
***Ingredients***
Skimmed Milk (68%) , Whole Milk (22%) , Sugar , Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder , Buttermilk Powder , Modified Maize Starch , Stabilisers (Carrageenan, Guar Gum) .
Free from Gluten and artificial colours
My tip is to give it a really good shake and then stick a straw and drink from the bottle, make sure its really cold and maybe even add some ice cubes if you fancy having it in a glass.
They have a deal on at Asda at the moment 2 for £1 which is good as they normally retail at around £1 each anyway.
***Summary***
I will probably buy these again but it will be a long time from now, I tend to buy these a few times a year, they are simply too high in calories to have on a regular basis and they are very sickly.
Summary: ok from time to time
