Nothing like a freshly made milkshake drink!
Member Name: SoadFan
Advantages: Well presented product
Disadvantages: Very gloopy texture
Frijj Milkshakes are a range of milk based drinks that I have tried a number of times and sadly failed to really enjoy. I have found the flavours of theses milkshakes to be rather synthetic and not overly appealing to my tastes and they certainly cannot compete with a freshly made home made milkshake made with ice cream, milk and fruit/ chocolate/ or other flavourings.
I feel that the presentation of these drinks is clean and fresh, with bright colours (red, brown, blue, yellow and chocolate) used on a simple white background. The colours used on the product bottles make each of the varied flavour types stand out from each other, making it easy to spot the flavour you want amongst the rest of the range when on an in store display. The text and product information is clearly presented and I feel the over all look is reasonably attractive to the eye.
The product bottles are made from a durable plastic type material with an easy to open lid that also closes well so that you can pour out a little of the product and save the rest for later if wanted. You get a fair amount of the product in each bottle as each one contains 500mls of Frijj Milkshake and at a general price of around 80p per bottle, value for money is fair. The calorie content is quite high, with the chocolate drink having around 77 calories per 100mls making these a treat rather than something you might want to drink daily. The banana flavoured drink has slightly less calories per 100mls but still comes in at an what I consider to be an overly high 65 calories per 100mls.
The main attraction of these drinks seems to be the fuller texture that they have, which I think is meant to mimic a freshly made ice cream and milk based milkshake. I have found that this feature is something that I have not liked much, as I am not all that keen on the rather thick and somewhat gloopy consistency of these drinks. Whilst I was aware when buying these that they were a thicker, fuller, ready made milkshake style product, I must admit that I had hoped them to be more palatable then they really are.
I have tried the strawberry, chocolate and fudge flavoured drinks in the past and most recently bought the banana flavoured drink to see if it was nicer than the others. Although some of these flavours were better than others the overly thick texture of each one does over shadow the taste of each of them for me and I much prefer a freshly made milkshake to a Frijj Milkshake drink. I have noticed that there are new flavours such as jam doughnut, sticky toffee and honeycomb which are packed attractively and do sound like interesting options. I may take a chance and try one or two of them just to see if they can win me over although I do feel that they are probably going to be something that I wouldn't want to buy on a regular basis.
As I have not really enjoyed these drinks I feel that I cannot rate them all that highly which is why I am giving them a 2 star product rating
Summary: Not the best milkshake product
