Advantages: Very tasty, Thick and creamy, Nice flavours
Disadvantages: you might not like milkshakes
As well as the usual fizzy and soft drinks available, one type of drink that sometimes gets overlooked are milkshakes, possibly due to the fact there are few well-known brands available; but one such brand of milkshake is Frijj. Frijj milkshakes have been around for some years now, and I hadn't tried one properly until recently. A lot of other milkshakes I have tried in the past tend to be quite thin, and have the same consistency as ordinary milk; not Frijj, as these milkshakes are pretty thick, and also very tasty. Frijj milkshakes come in the usual varieties of Banana, chocolate, and strawberry, but there are also a couple of other 'newer' varieties now available; these include Vanilla, white chocolate, and my personal favourite, the limited-edition Simpsons-themed Raspberry D'oh-nut flavour. Each one comes in it's own colour-themed bottle; pink for strawberry, yellow for banana, and brown for chocolate. The bottles are 500ml in size, and have a cow-like pattern of the colours on a white background. Everyone probably has their own favourite flavour milkshake, but they're all about as nice as each other. The Strawberry milkshake is probably my least favourite, as it tastes a little to sweet and artificial for my liking; it also doesn't taste too strongly of real strawberries, either. The chocolate one is pretty similar, as it too tastes a bit artificial, not like real chocolate, but overall has a nicer flavour, if a bit sickly. The banana milkshake is probably the nicest of the 'original' flavours, as it tastes a lot like real banana's, and is not too sweet or artificial like the other two. Of the other flavours, I have only tried the Vanilla milkshake once before, and found it a bit sickly, and coupled with the thick consistency, it reminded me a lot of custard! As I mentioned above, the Raspberry D'oh-nut flavour is my overall favourite, and I have tried this one many times;
it has a nice taste, not too sweet, and doesn't taste too artificial. It can be identified as it has a picture of Homer Simpson holding a donut, and it helpfully informs you on the side of it's bottle that it doesn't contain REAL donuts! It also mentions on the side of each bottle that it should be well shaken, in order to get the best flavour and consistency - the milkshakes can be fairly thick if not shaken. Nutritional Information (per 100ml): - Kcal/KJ: 79 Kcal/333 KJ Carbohydrate: 11.1g Protein: 3.9g Fat: 2.1g Calcium: 141mg Frijj milkshakes also obviously contain mostly fresh milk, but also sugar, colourings, and other flavourings. They are made by Dairy Crest, and usually cost around 95p each, but you can sometimes get them available on offer for around 69p in some shops. My overall view is that Frijj milkshakes are very tasty, probably the best milkshakes you can buy in the shops. They are thick, creamy and delicious, and unlike other soft drinks, are good for you, as they contain a lot of Calcium. They are also very moreish, so when you've tried one, you'll want to try all of them (or at least I did!). The Raspberry D'oh-nut is without doubt the best flavour, in my opinion, but everyone probably has their favourite. I would recommend these for anyone who likes soft drinks, particularly if you've not tried Frijj milkshakes before, or if you prefer something a bit different to fizzy drinks or squash.
