A delightful thick milkshake in toffee flavour that manges to be thick & tasty but not too sweet.

Sticky Toffee Pudding Milkshake - what a concept! Only Frijj could come up with this one I reckon. Although the concept sounds almost as bad as their raspberry jam doughnut flavour milkshake actually, this one is a lot better thankfully, and although I still prefer my favourite vanilla, this is quite drinkable. This Sticky Toffee Pudding Flavour is one of their limited edition flavours and so it's hard to know how long it will be around for. For this reason, I've been giving all the new limited edition flavours a try now while they are still here. Packaging Like all Frijj milkshakes this comes in a white plastic bottle which is covered in a thin plastic wrap around label. The plastic bottle and the lid are recyclable, while the plastic wrap around label is easily removed to be placed in the bin. Actually one of the nice little things about the label is that they've drawn a zip down it and have a little tear strip so that you can easily know where to tear down so that you can remove the label easily. The label is predominantly white with black and brown on it - brown being the colour for toffee obviously - and has all the info on it you need like ingredients and whatnot. The Thickness I love that with Frijj milkshakes they manage to give you a milkshake that is thick but also light at the same time. With a thick milkshake made with icecream you're dealing with something that's thick and heavy. These are much lighter and have an almost whipped feel to them. More like they've been whipped/shaken up till they're super fluffy light and thick. The Flavour Sticky Toffee Pudding as a flavour sounds exceedingly sweet and rather intense. However, Frijj have actually managed to avoid this and instead have managed to get across the flavour of the sticky toffee pudding really well but without it being super sweet. Instead the toffee and the puddingy flavours both come through clearly but with the gentleness of the milk sort of wrapping it up and making it very palatable and exceedingly tasty. My Opinion I didn't find that this was a milkshake I wanted too much of in one sitting, and a small glass (about a third of a 500ml bottle) was plenty for one go in my opinion. I will say however, that the flavour and texture worked really well as a milkshake and I really enjoyed this very much. I don't think it will ever take over from vanilla as my personal favourite, but I have to say that I'm quite happy to drink it on occasion and wouldn't be unhappy to see this staying as part of their full time range.

The best of Frijj's newest range of milkshakes!

As a Chef, one of my favourite desserts to make is my famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. It is the sweet I get the most compliments over rivaled only by the Chocolate Brownie that I do. So, you could kind of call me a bit of an expert when it comes to the flavour of Sticky Toffee Pudding. First of all I should point out that the Sticky Toffee I make is a traditional one and not like the ones you buy in the shops. The variety I make requires you to soak chopped Dates in tea for 15 minutes before adding them to your cake mixture with a couple of tablespoonfuls of coffee. As you can imagine, this gives the whole thing a unique flavour and with my special toffee butterscotch sauce, the whole thing is simply divine. The first thing I should point out is that this paticular product captures none of this. What it DOES capture perfectly is the flavour of your more conventional bought-in Sticky Toffee Pudding and though that is all well and good, it is no match for the real thing! That said, this latest flavour from Frijj is among their best yet and far better than their Jam Doughnut variety that just tastes like Raspberry Milkshake with none of the real or defined doughnut taste that you would expect from how it has been advertised and marketed! It is thick, creamy and as you might expect very rich and very, very sweet! And that is the problem to my mind. For someone like me with an extremely sweet tooth, this flavour is simply sublime but to others, they may find this toooo sweet! You can almost feel it rotting your teeth as you drink it! And like I say, it is VERY rich ~ almost like a meal in itself. Rather than as a drink, you could almost have this as a dessert and feel entirely satisfied. Okay, maybe that is a slight exaggeration but not by much..... Overall, this thick milkshake really delivers on taste. Though to a refined palate like mine it is not a true Sticky Toffee Pudding as I know it, it comes pretty close and, like I say, is the best of their new range recently released. But it is not for the faint of heart and those who don't like their milkshake too sweet should definitely avoid! Now for the science bit.....each milkshake consists of:- Nutritional information Typical values per 100ml Energy 375kJ/89kcal Protein 4.0g - Carbohydrate 13.7g - of which sugars 12.5g Fat 2.0g of which saturates 1.3g of which monounsaturates 0.5g of which polyunsaturates trace Fibre 0.1g Sodium 0.06g Calcium 142mg (18% RDA) Vitamin B12 0.4µg (16% RDA) And if that means anything to you, you are a better person than me!

We have a rival to the Chocolate Fudge flavour!

As a huge fan of sweet puddings and an even bigger fan of milkshake the new Sticky Toffee Pudding flavoured milkshake from Frijj seemed the perfect idea. Frijj's milkshakes have, for a while, been a bit of a vice of mine and with Sticky Toffee pudding being one of my favourite deserts this seemed like a match made in heaven. The flavour is one of 3 new flavours introduced by Frijj in recent weeks along with Raspberry Jam Doughnut and Honeycomb Choc Swirl and from the name this one had the best potential, though I had been surprised by just how nice the Raspberry Jam Doughnut one had been. Upon opening the bottle the smell was a familiar one, it smelt a bit like the wonderful Chocolate Fudge Brownie milkshake by the same company (arguably the best flavour thet Frijj do) and so my hopes had gotten sky high. Then came the moment of truth, actually drinking it. The first thing you notice when you start to drink it is just how thick and creamy it is, it's wonderfully thick and when chilled it's an enjoyable experience to just have the drink in your mouth. The test is simply gorgeous it really manages to replicate the true taste of a Sticky Toffee Pudding and although the drink does tend to leave a small after taste it's the same sticky toffee pudding taste that we all know...and personally I love. While the drink is currently on a £1 a bottle introductory offer in most supermarkets, I think it's a perfect time to stock up on them as they are truly a delight and have become a true challenger to the much loved Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavour. Frijj have managed to do what they do every time and have created a gorgeous, thick wonderfully tasty milkshake drink once again. Well done to the guys and girls at Frijj.
