Advantages: low fat, no artificial sweetners or colours
Disadvantages: doesnt taste like galaxy to me and is not chocolaty enough
Galaxy chocolate is my absolute favorite chocolate, so when I saw the Galaxy Thick Shake in our local garage I had to buy a bottle and give it a try.
At £1.49 per bottle it is not cheap. The bottle is 440ml and has a screw top lid, underwhich there is a foil covering for freshness. The bottle boasts 2.5% fat and 20% more chocolate. The label is the same pattern used on Galaxy chocolate bars and along with the big G on the front of the bottle there are 2 pieces of Galaxy chocolate shown. The bottle makes this drink look very inviting!
Unfortunatly, as aluring as the bottle is, its contents is quite ordinary and disappointing. It is very thick and creamy, so deserves the title of thick shake rather than milk shake, however I did not find it to be very chocolaty. As I mentioned the bottle states 20% more chocolate, so if they previously made it with less chocolate its really not surprising that they had to re-do the product with more chocolate, I think they should have carried on adding personally, and not stopped at 20% because it tasted to milky to me.
Im afraid I did not really feel this thick shake tasted of Galaxy either, yes it was chocolaty, but to me, Galaxy is a thick, smoothe chocolate with an individual taste and I really do not think that they have captured that taste in this thick shake.
On the side of the bottle the nutritional content is shown, it actually gives the value per 200ml which is silly in my opinion, becasue I quite easily drank the bottle in one sitting, I think products like this really should offer the nutritional content per bottle. Following the nutritional information it says ' this bottle contains 2.2 portions' - what is the point in that? I am one of those people who is forever on some kind of diet and I have to take note of my portions and calories, but its a lot of faffing around when products have nutritional information like this - seriously am I really going to divide it into 2.2 portions? I dont think so! On the back of the bottle the nutritional information is stated again, this time per 100ml!
On the plus side, this thick shake has no artificial sweetners or colours ( although personally when I am indulging in something like a chocolate thick shake, artificial sweetners are the last thing on my mind! ).
So, overall this product is not really anyhting special and I felt it was a bit of a let down compared to how I had imagined it to be. it does not taste bad, but it just isnt the gorgeous chocolaty shake I had hoped for.
Summary: a real let down!
