Galaxy Thick Shake
My younger brother works in the corner shop near me and he often comes home after work with some sort of goodie to munch or drink, this time it was the Galaxy Milkshake. I'm not usually one for chocolate milkshakes but I love Galaxy chocolate it's so creamy and rich and makes a perfect luxury in moderation. I can still remember his words, 'Yes it's lush!' he said and 'It tastes JUST like Galaxy' so I went and blew oops I mean spent £1.20 on a bottle.
The bottle looks just as dreamy and luxurious as the chocolate bar with elegant swirls of cream and brown decorating it and the word Galaxy smoothly swirled along the side. The bottle has a brown screw off cap and underneath this the shake is protected by a foil film which needs to be peeled off. 1.2% fat the bottle boasts as well as 'made with real chocolate'. Galaxy milk drink with real chocolate we are told on the back of the bottle with a few other points too. The drink apparently has a Unique smooth and creamy galaxy taste - remember that!! It's meant to be made with real Galaxy chocolate.
As well as being;
*Made with real cream
*Only 1.2% fat
*Containing no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or sweeteners
*Full of milk goodness
Well along with what my brother said and these facinating chocolatey facts on the bottle I was quite excited. I mean a milk drink which tastes just like the Galaxy chocolate bar - that sounds like heaven. So I opened the bottle and peeled off the film and took a deep breath in hoping to take in the divine creamy galaxy aroma. Instead I was met by a bitter chocolate smell - you know that one that seems to come attached to most chocolate flavoured milkdrinks, the one you can't help but screw your nose up at. I could not smell milky, creamy naughty chocolate. So I thought it best I taste it - don't judge a drink by it's smell eh!
Well I sipped, and sipped and sipped again. It was definitely smooth, as well as creamy and even quite thick too but it had that bitter cocoa taste that I find seems to come with every chocolate milkshake I've tried. I could taste NO galaxy chocolate AT ALL!! The colour and consistency of it was stunning, a delicate brown in colour you could see it's creaminess as you poured it into a glass but I wanted the taste as well as the look.
Even for a galaxy shake though the milkshake had no oomph, no excitement it was just nothing special. The lovely rich taste that comes with a galaxy chocolate bar is definitely not evident in this shake. It is more bitter cocoa than gorgeous milk chocolate.
I actually thought the shake was horrible, but then I'm not a fan of chocolate milkshakes anyway they all taste so bitter and twisted, like this one! I did only buy it under the impression that it actually tasted like a Galaxy chocolate bar.
The bottle it comes in is a 388ml bottle but the nutritional info is given per 200ml serving. Each 200ml serving contains;
Whether you like chocolate milkshakes or not I wouldn't suggest wasting your money on this, yes it may be Galaxy but you don't always get what you pay for with things and the bottle looks better than what the drink actually is!
