Another week, another brand of cider. Yes, my local Safeway has done it again and tempted me into trying another variety by virtue of another half price offer. And who was I to resist? I had never tried Gaymer's Olde English before (I think it was the attempt at quaintness by calling their product "cyder" that had been putting me off all this time), and this seemed a good time to do so. I have so far drunk 3 of my 4 cans of it - in order to get well acquainted with the taste and build up some consumer experience with the product before reviewing it, of course - and will now succumb to the fourth....just to refresh my memory, you understand. ...

What a difficult thing cider is to write an opinion about. For a start the majority of the population associate it with being 14 and getting drunk in the park on White Lightning, Diamond White or some other favourite of your local tramp. If that didn't put you off then there's the constant "cider is for poofs" pisstaking of your mates; it's only about 1 level up from ordering a bottle of Hooch in the hardman drinker stakes. Those of us from Somerset have always had something of a fonder view of the locally produced tipple, but often have to return to our county of origin to find like-minded souls.
