The power of Goldschlager is that it lends itself well to a shooter. As with its cousin, aftershock, its just way too sweet for the casual sips. As a true believer of booze, I can honestly say it would never even cross my mind to order a double of goldschlager, throw in a couple of ice cubes and splash in some mixer. I've never met anyone who would. You just don't do it.
Goldschlager is a shooter, plain and simple, and thats not a bad thing. It works great as a single, stand alone straight up shot: its sweet to the taste, warms up the through real nice and has a pleasant aftertaste.
Its the kind of gimmick shooter you get a round of shots in maybe halfway through the night, when you notice the shiny bottle with the gold flecks behind the bar. Although its pretty widespread, its always going to have a fairly selective appeal, which is kind of a shame, as its pretty similar to the more popular aftershock. The same drinking considerations apply here: this is one that kind of sneaks up on you, and it always seems like you've drank less than you actually have: until you stand up, and the room goes helter skelter.
