Disadvantages: Not in every israeli pub or cafe

Goldstar is Israel's best beer. Described as a dark lager beer, it's not really that dark but something related to a literal translation frm Hebrew as I remember. Most commonly available in a small bottle with a red and gold emblem (0.33l), occasionally a big one is available (0.75l). I've only ever drunk this in Israel and can't comment on its availability in Europe, I certainly haven't come across it elsewhere before. Developed in 1950, they are based on a Munich based beer.

At 4.9% and pouring an ambery colour, it's got medium lacing and a small head. It's a pretty sound lager, the best one I had in Israel - although there is some good Palestinian beer actually. Tastewise it's quite hoppy but there's also a hint of sweetness to it, there's nothing spectacular to it but it's extremely thirst quenching when exceptionally cold and served in the hot Israel sun.

Goldstar is a down to earth beer that is strong enough to give you a buzz after a few but is also far from potent, it's a good accompaniment to a meal and could also be enjoyed in large quantities due to it's easy beer drinking taste and body!

Summary: Nice beer
