... in comparison to others as it has a simple horseshoe design on it. It seems quite contemporary but not initially eye catching. It is the name on the bottle in this case that caught my eye. The beer itself is a lovely rich golden copper in colour. It seems quite a light easy drinking beer, as it is a summer ale. It pours nicely to produce an ample foamy rather than creamy head that dissolves to reveal a ring of lacing around the glass. The smell is very inviting. Rhubarb is a much maligned and underrated fruit (or is it technically a vegetable?), which is also quintessentially British. I love the sharp sweet and sour flavour and adore it in yogurt, my mum's rhubarb jam, tarts crumbles, pies and the classic combination of rhubarb and custard! However rhubarb and beer seems to be a very strange combination that actually exists in the form of Ruddles Rhubarb, a premium ale that has rhubarb in its ingredients. I've had a variety of fruit beer from th classic Belgian Lambric beers such as cherry kreik, raspberry framboise and gooseberry grozen to pink grapefruit flavoured beer (rather nice) but rhubarb seemed to be a weird choice for ...
