A drink for all occasions (Guinness Draught)
Member Name: Ickle_John
Advantages: very smooth Disadvantages: after taste is a little heavy
Guiness has become closer to a fashion accessory than drink. This has alot to do with it's ultra cool image and it's aesthetically pleasing nature. But on a personal note I don't give two hoots about what my pint looks like, it's taste and texture I'm interested in. I think Guiness really is as close as it gets to velvet in a glass the texture is so unbelievably smooth and clings to the back of the throat (but in a good way :). When Guiness is served at the right temperature it is the most enjoyable drink around. But Guiness is a slow drink, something to savour over time and therefore has a tendancy to get a little warm towards the bottom. On a level of taste Guiness is possibly one of the best stouts around, it has a rich full flavour that suprises the pallet with something new every time. It's after taste is simmilar to fine coffee, dark and woody. Over all I think Guiness is the finest draught available on the market even if it is a little expensive. The only problem is that it doesn't go overly well with a meal, the heavy after taste will on occassion will drown out the more subtle flavours within the food. Summary: |
