dangaroo Gambrinus Beer: ... breweries, it was also a popular brew to be drunk in Carú cu bere, a renowned beer house that was a meeting place for artists at the turn of the century and is a large church like building full of character. I actually had the beer before it was re-launched by Heineken with its trendy new label and recall it looking a bit lifeless but nowhere near on par with Bucegi. The beer itself is fairly light both in a...

dangaroo Bucegi
... s bottle distinctly lacks style, simple and old-fashioned the lable makes it look like a budget bottle of cooking oil. To describe the flavour of the beer in the same way wouldn t be doing it justice at all. Bucegi is made in the Bucegi area just south of Brasov and is mostly found in this area - it has won several awards during this decade and has a lighter softer taste than the Premium beers of Romania. Not quite as fluid as the majority of Czech beers but it certainly goes down nicely and emphasises that more alcohol content is not always necessary! The makers say about it that it has the power to make fun of the bad things, characteristic for Romanian people....

dangaroo Ciuc Premium
... Premium is one of those beers that prides itself on being made from mountain water, originally I always thought that it was just a marketing angle and that the water beer was made from could be straight out of the toilet bowl for all we knew. But a higher quality of water is undoubtedly going to make the beer tastier and fresher and as I found with the Polish beer Harnas.. it may actually be true. Ciuc derives from Miercurea Ciuc in Romania and the water from the mountains of the Harghita mountain range. There s nothing wrong with Ciuc, I couldn t imagine anyone complaining about it as it doesn t have a strong taste and therefore goes down easily, the ABV at 5.0% is...

dangaroo Silva Original
... tortoise speed. This beer has a decent amount of carbonation and a bittersweet beer smell and taste which is joined with a bit of hoppyness when drank. This is one of my favourite beers and is really pleasant to drink, it s been brewed privately in Romania since 1991 but was known before that during communism for some years. It has 5.1% alcohol and is based on a German pilsener and uses a Belgian recipe, this multicultural little Romanian beer is a top drawer effort and one that is likely to cheer up any evening! I enjoy it served cool and in the bottle the most. The beer itself is brewed by Grivita International in Bucharest, which in turn is now owned by Heineken....
