Advantages: Pretty decent tasting

Disadvantages: A bit of a novelty act

Hemp Valley Beer is a Czech lager that seems a bit of a novelty product, I came across it in the local supermarket and thought it looked ilke prime dooyoo review material, so gave it a spin. The label looked more interesting than the average beer, with a kind of retro grey and white lable with the words Hemp Valley Beer, a picture of a valley and two little hemp leaves.

The back of the ingredients include "hemp extract", I think that's more of a novelty than anything else though because it certainly wouldn't be for sale in Poland if it had any effect whatsoever.

Behind the fancy design and novelty act, there's a reasonable Czech beer, not as good as the ones with more tradition but this new product from the Pivovar Nova Paka Brewery in the small town of Nova Paka close to Hradec Kralove definitely passes the taste test. It's a little bitter, has a small head when poured but one that stays throughout the beer - pricewise it's a bit more than necessary, a 0.3l bottle is generally the same price as most other Czech 0.5l beers. My conclusion is that the novelty is not worth paying the extra dough for.

Summary: If other Czech beer is available, give this designer beer a wide berth
