Advantages: is good for you, tastes nice
Disadvantages: you have to pay for it!
I started drinking bottled mineral water about 3 years ago when my local authority decided to renew all the water pipes in my area, and for some reason after they had finished the water never tasted the same, probably due to the fact it was now cleaner!
I try to drink about 2 litres of water every day, and try to make this up with half tap water and half mineral water, I would prefer all mineral water but it can prove to be expensive that way (I have tried it for a few weeks)
I have a bottle of 100% Scottish mineral water by Highland Spring on my desk at moment, I usually always have at least a few bottles of mineral water in my fridge at a time, and when at college or work placement drink my way through on average about 15 bottles per week. The bottle I have is a screw cap bottle but it is also available in the very popular sports top, with a flip top lid, Handy for kids!
I much prefer the still water to the sparkling water, as this tastes too sweet for me, and just fills me with gas!
The bottle I have is one of a multi pack of 6 x 500ml bottles, You can buy these singularly for around 40p but I paid £1.99 for 6 at my local corner shop, I am sure if you shop around that you will be able to get a better deal and have sometimes seen these on a BOGOF (buy one get one free) offer in supermarkets. You can also purchase 1.5 litre bottles singularly and multi-packs and the prices vary from store to store usually.
A couple of facts, which I found on the Highland Springs (HS) website….
Water is essential to life, The human body is made up of about 75% water and our brain tissue consists of up to 85% water.
It is recommended that adults drink 1.8 litres of water per day, we lose about 1.5 litres of water per day as a result of natural processes such as urinating, breathing and perspiring, So we can become dehydrated if we don’t refuel our bodies!
It is recommended a child from about 7 yrs old should drink an average of 6 glasses water each day too. Water improves our skin, and our energy levels, It eliminates harmful toxins in our bodies and will absorb essential minerals and vitamins and will regulate body temperature….
Highland Springs water is found in the Ochil hills in Perthshire Scotland, and is bottled in a village called Blackford, It has been registered as a natural mineral water since 1982 and was certified as organic in 2001.
This information and more can be found on the website,
I have personally found that since drinking around 2 litres every day I get fewer spots so do agree that it is better for my skin.
I like the HS Still mineral water as it is a very refreshing drink especially when just out fridge, I found when trying different mineral waters that some have an almost metallic taste, but this one doesn’t have that, I can drink this water even when it has been out of the fridge for some hours which comes in handy when at college. I feel I can concentrate more if I have some water to drink, and many schools these days encourage children to drink water whilst working in classrooms! (I know the class I work in does)
Overall I have no complaints about this water and would highly recommend this to anyone, If you are one of those people who cannot drink water because you feel it is tasteless, bland etc then try adding some fruit squash (sugar free) it still counts towards your daily requirements!
Thanks for reading.

Summary: 8 glasses a day to kep those spots at bay!
