Highland Spring Natural Mineral Water Still
by hanmillie
I am a bit of a stickler for keeping hydrated and although I normally hydrate myself using water from a tap I occasionally will invest in a couple of bottles of spring water being that the bottles can come be re-used later on. It was upon buying a snack for lunch earlier in Tesco that I came across a shelf of Highland Spring water and so ... popped a bottle in my basket to drink later in the day.
This water comes packaged in a number of varying bottle sizes and multipacks however for this review I will be focussing on the 500ml bottle which can usually be found in the lunch aisle of my local supermarket. This water is simply presented in a clear plastic bottle with a purple screw top lid and purple label which indicates that it is indeed still water and not sparkling inside. A twig of thistle illustration at the top of the label is a sure indicator that this water is drawn in Scotland and this is confirmed on the back of bottle which states that this water is indeed a 'product of Scotland'.
This water is drawn from organic soil and the bottle analysis of the water confirms that it contains amongst other things calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. Upon screwing off the lid of the bottle I found that the water was not only odourless but also tasted of nothing. Unsurprising you might say for water, however I do find that tap and some variations of bottled water can taste slightly chemically and therefore this water is a refreshing alternative.
For my first Highland Spring purchase, I was pleasantly content with this water being that it does not smell or taste at all chemically and I therefore feel like I am doing my body a good turn. In addition this water is refreshing and in my opinion tastes fine either ice cold or at room temperature although preferably better cold. In addition the bottle is 100% recyclable meaning that I feel like I am in someway doing a good deed when I finally ditch the bottle.
At 82p for a 500ml bottle this water is not the cheapest option available, however it is by no means the most expensive. I would therefore be willing to buy this water again and as a result would recommend this product. As with all bottled water this brand can be bought in all good supermarkets.
Based on my comments, I will be scoring this bottled water a good four stars out of five.

Highland Spring Natural Mineral Water Still
by 85fiona
I don't normally buy bottled water as I feel its a bit of a waste of money, but recently I was about to do a 3hr drive and I couldn't find an empty bottle to take some water with me (was a warm day thought I might get thirsty) so I popped into a garage to get some water and came away with a bottle of highland spring.
The ... bottle I got was 750ml and it had a sports cap, very handy if your trying to drink it in a car, less likely to spill it all over yourself. The bottle is made of clear plastic and has a purpley label which says "Highland spring: Still spring water" on it and the sports cap bit has a purple lid and a white screw top bit. The bottle states that it is 100% recyclable which is good to know. The water cost me 95p, slightly steep for just water but it was in a garage and prices tend to be a bit more than your average supermarket. A quick look at tescos and you can get the same bottle of water for 50p, although it is on offer at the moment (normal price 82p).
The taste is, well it tastes like water, however I do tend to find that bottled water tastes slightly better than tap water, more smooth perhaps. I find water to be the best thirst quencher as well, trying to drink some fizzy juice at 100mph when you are really thirsty tends to end up with a lot of coughing and spluttering and less quenching of your thirst. Even drinking still juice, if you are just gulping it down because you are seriously thirsty it seems likea bit of a waste, better to drink water in that case in my opinion. Water is also the most healthy drink you can have, has 0 calories with no salt sugar or anything added to it, just 100% natural, cant do better than that.
Although it is expensive for what it is (at its cheapest it is 50p but tap water is free people!) if you want to take some water away some where with you and you don't already have a bottle to put water in then your going to have to buy something and you can refill it with tap water for next time so you don't have to spend any more money.
Would I buy it again? Probably, although I'd rather have some free tap water, but 50p for a bottle of water is not bad. Read the complete review |
