Innocent Smoothies come is some strange sounding flavours, some of which may even sound off putting, but that is as far from the truth as you could get. I not really a fan of such drinks as I do feel many of them are a pure rip off. However your £1.10 per 250ml bottle may sound a bit expensive, but when you taste one you will know the reason why.
Innocent's claim that these Smoothies are packed with fruit is for a pleasant change not an exaggeration, from the twisting of the lid you can smell nothing but fruit unless you have chosen the Honey and Vanilla in which case you get a mega whiff of vanilla. They are not the most pleasant of drinks to look at being a dull murky colour, this to some may be a little off putting, but my advice is to ignore this and get straight to the tasting.
Some of the flavours on offer here Strawberry and Banana, which has a squeeze of Orange and a Squeeze of lemon, this is a murky purplish colour but definitely contains the fruits mentioned, and is a very nice drink indeed. All the flavours are combinations, and with a little concentration whilst drinking you will be able to decide yourself which fruits are contained in each drink. My particular favourite is the Honey and Vanilla, as I mentioned before you get a very strong sense of the vanilla when opening the recycled bottle. When you come to the tasting it is the vanilla that is predominant but there is just enough honey to give the drink that little something different.
For the price and the quality of the drinks I think there is no doubt that you are getting great value for money, and a very decent portion of fruit into the bargain. More importantly though I think it is the diversity of flavours that make this a winner. There are many similar drinks on offer in the supermarkets, and I have tried many of them, but Innocent Smoothies definitely are a cut above the rest. The flavours are both strong and taste like they are supposed to, when other drinks only kind of emulate. A positive recommendation from me with no reservations whatsoever.
There is however one little word of warning you may want to take heed of, since this product is made from pure fruit there are certain elements contained in each bottle that when exposed to heat cause the drink to begin to ferment. So refrigeration is essential as I found out to my dismay. I left two Smoothies accidentally on top of a work surface overnight. In the morning the fermentation had caused the bottle to explode firing the top half way across the kitchen. This was only scratching the surface since the fermented fruit juice was EVERYWHERE !!!
Summary: A really good fruit drink
