“ Manufacturer: Innocent / Type: Smoothie „
I don't eat the healthiest of diets and I am always looking for the cheat's way to boost my vitamin intake without making any effort. I love Innocent Smoothies and seeing as they are the simplest way of upping my fruit intake I tend to drink one glass every day. I've been trying out the different flavours lately, including this Strawberries and Bananas smoothie which is available in 250ml single serving sized bottles, or larger 750ml and 1.25 litre cartons. Because I drink smoothies so often I tend to buy the XXL size cartons as this gives better value for money. A recommended serving size is 250mls, so this carton gives 5 full servings which is the perfect amount to give me one glass a day Monday - Friday when I'm at work, and I always make sure I have a carton stored in the office fridge. The carton is sealed with a plastic screw top lid and you should always shake before serving. The plastic ring pulls have been removed from the packaging, and Innocent say this saves over 20 tonnes of plastic a year! This variety of Innocent smoothie is not the most exotic or exciting, but I am quite fussy when it comes to fruit drinks and I was pretty certain that little could go wrong with strawberry and banana flavours! As well as containing the obvious strawberries and bananas, this smoothie drink also includes apples, red grapes, white grapes, oranges and a dash of lime. It has a pinky red colour which is quite nice and you can tell from the appearance that it is made up of real fresh fruit ingredients. Each 250ml serving provides not one, but two of your recommended 5-a-day portions of fruit and vegetables. This is excellent as I'm able to add this in to my daily diet without putting in any more effort than it takes to pour the drink into a glass. It's perfect for people who are fussy about eating fruits or vegetables, and saves time and hassle if you're on the go or have little time to spare. I like to have a glass each day with my breakfast, as this means that my metabolism can get to work on breaking down all the sugars (there is a lot of natural sugar in fruit - 26g per 250mls!) and I've had a healthy start to the day as well as boosting my fruit and fibre intake. You can really tell that this smoothie is made with natural ingredients as the taste is very flavoursome and rich. It has a very pure taste and is very much like a strawberry yoghurt. The flavour of the strawberries comes through the most, and I couldn't really detect any banana flavor at all. It tastes very sweet but there is also a hint of sharpness as well which balances out nicely. I personally really like this flavor, it is not quite so unusual as some of the tropical fruit smoothies that Innocent make, and it's really nice and refreshing as a morning drink as it doesn't overload my palate. I have a real dislike for drinks that have "bits" in, and I hate the feeling of swallowing chunks as part of a smoothie drink, yuk! This Strawberries and Bananas smoothie has a thick consistency but it is also very smooth and even though it's thick it is still quite runny. There are some small bits of strawberry pulp visible within the drink, although they are very small and not overly noticeable when drinking it. I normally drink my smoothies with a straw to sort of filter the pulpy bits anyway, and this one still feels nice and smooth when swallowing it so I don't get that horrible chunky feeling! As well as making great tasting products, Innocent are concerned about all sorts of other matters. They are an ethically aware company and offer several promises, including to always source the best fruits and keep their products healthy, to be sustainable and use recycled/recyclable packaging, and to donate 10% of profits via their charitable off-shoot Innocent Foundation. I think this is a very positive approach and makes me more happy to buy Innocent products as I trust their brand. This is a lovely, sweet, fruity smoothie that is delicious as well as being healthy. The Strawberries and Bananas variety may be a bit basic and plain compared to some of the others in Innocent's range, but it is still made to the same high standard of quality, and is great for fussy people (like me!) or anyone who prefers traditional flavours over tropical and exotic fruits. I would happily recommend this one and will definitely purchase it again.
I only occasionally buy Innocent smoothies as I find that it is cheaper to make my own but I will buy them when I am feeling lazy or I also occasionally buy the smaller bottles when I want a drink at lunch and don't fancy a soft drink. I am quite funny when it comes to food combinations and there are some that I just wouldn't dream of eating. For some reason though banana and strawberry doesn't offend me and it is the Innocent smoothie I will pick 9 times out of 10. According to Innocent the small bottles of banana and strawberry contain 4 and a half crushed strawberries, half a pressed apple, half a mashed banana, one third of a squeezed orange, 9 pressed red and white grapes and a dash of lime juice. Because of all the fruit in it the smoothie will actually give you 2 of your 5 a day which is great for people like me who don't really like fruit and veg so I know I can get some nutrients down me in only a few gulps. The consistency of the banana and strawberry smoothie is extremely thick the smoothie has a really nice pinky red colour which does make it look attractive and appetising. The smell is also really good and you can definitely smell the strawberries which I always find to be a lovely smell. The taste is as you might expect tastes mainly of banana and strawberries. It is lovely and sweet but I do find that there is a slight bitter aftertaste to the smoothies but this is only very slight and doesn't really detract from the nice taste. I always feel really smug when drinking an innocent smoothie but I do find them to be very expensive. They cost £3.69 for a 1.25 ltr carton which means that I just can't afford to drink them as much as I might like but they are often on offer in the supermarkets which does make them a bit more affordable. The smaller bottles cost around £1.90 which is also too expensive in my eyes but it is cheaper than a coffee at costa and much better for me so I don't mind paying it occasionally. Innocent smoothies are healthy as well as being tasty and if you don't mind paying the premium then they are a great drink and a good way to get two of your five a day.
I'm not adverse to fruit and veg, in fact I quite like them, however I just find it so hard to fit them into my day. When you start of your day with a 250ml glass of this you have immediately packed in 2 of your five a day already. Not only that, but it tastes great. I mean what better way to wake up your taste buds. What I have always loved about innocent smoothies is that there is always so much to read on the packet. Again, what better way to start of your morning, than having a read of the comical genius they put on the cartons. The quality of the smoothies is great. They are so thick, and they don't taste at all artificial. In fact they taste how you might expect a home made one to. They are of course quite expensive. Its £2.50 for a 750ml bottle from Tesco, and the £1.25 lites bottles are £3.69. They are often on 2 for something offers, which makes them a bit more affordable. Despite the price tag, the smoothie is well worth it. You can taste the quality, and its the perfect way to start the morning.
Innocent Fruit Smoothie - Strawberries and Banana What is it? ******** A fruit drink. Special features? ************* Made from 100% fruit and fruit puree blended into a smoothie. What do I think? ************* I think this is great and one of the easiest ways to get your two portions of fruit on the go. Although, I'm not too keen on the colour and when you pour it out it does look like something from a kids gunk kit pack. The consistency is a bit sloppy and thick, but you just have to reassure yourself that this is just the fruit puree and hopefully you can convince yourself that you will carry on pouring it into your glass and then eventually take the plunge to sip a mouthful of it! The taste is a bit confusing as it doesn't taste of strawberries or bananas but knowing that it is only mainly these two fruit in there and that it's going to be good and healthy for me does make me still drink it. I suppose with there being half an apple and a 'dash' of squeezed orange confuses things even more... Having a smoothie containing strawberries and bananas is probably one of the best smoothies to have, just solely owing to the high vitamins and fibre from the fruit, this combination compared to the others contains probably the most benefits from a health perspective. However, this does contain a lot if sugar so diabetics may need to stay away from this one, but apart from this it should be so good for you. Price wise, this is a bit expensive, well, maybe I should say over priced, particularly the small little 250ml bottles which can be as much as £1.75-£2.00. The 1-litre carton packs are a bit better value at £2.99 but I tend to wait until it's on promotion before it ends up in my basket. There are also so many other brands of smoothie in this combination that are cheaper as well, so watch out! Thanks for reading. xx ©Leighsa 2010
The innocent smoothies are divine! Although I love them all, I always come back to the simplest one - the strawberry and banana smoothie. This smoothie has just the right balance of flavours, with the tangy sweet of the strawberries and the smooth, creamy sweet of the banana that balance eachother wonderfully. It's quite a thick smoothie and demands time to properly taste and appreciate it. It counts as 2 of your 5 fruit and veg a day and I'm not surprised as it is actually also quite filling, so would probably be very very good for dieting, as a healthy snack! It's a really good way of getting vitamins and minerals into kids too, as it tastes so "naughty" that they won't feel like you're trying to make them eat healthy food! The smoothies are completely fresh and never made from concentrates. The drink is so fresh that it can quickly go off if not refridgerated and has a short shelf life. In addition, it is quite pricey in comparison to other smoothies but this is to be expected with the quality of the product.
As my boyfriend is on a diet and trying to loose weight, i was looking for lots of healthy foods, as he doesnt like to eat much fruit, i thought maybe these innocent smoothies would be a great way of getting some of his 5 a day into him! I had heard a lot about thes innocent smoothies being really good for you so i decided to have a look at them in tescos a few weeks ago. When i looked at the ingredients for these innocent smoothies i was really suprised to see that there is nothing in these smoothies but real fruit! There is absolutely nothing added so you can guarentee that these are really healthy and good for you! I chose the strawberries and banana flavour as these are two of our favourite fruits and we usually buy them every week seperately. It can be hard to eat five pieces of fruit and veg a day, but these innocent smoothies are a great cheating way to get half way there! A glass of this provides around 2 and a half of your five a day, so it is great if you dont have time to eat 5 pieces every day, just have a glass of this for breakfast and your already on your way! The texture of this smoothies is actually quite thick, so it isnt something you can just drink down really quickly, i always find you have to take your time with it and it can be quite filling. It isnt a light drink, but it is so fresh. It does taste of natural fruit though, you can tell there is nothing artificial in there, and it is actually a really nice drink. Not only is it a healthy drink, it tastes gorgeous too. In this smoothie there are 10 pressed apples, 27 crushed strawberries, 2 and a half bananas and some freshly squeezed orange juice. I have always wanted to get a smoothie make but had never tried smoothies until we tried these innocent ones, and now i think i am going to invest in one! Although it is more convienient to just buy it all ready made by innocent i think it would be cheaper to buy your own fruit and do it yourself! These innocent smoothies are very expensive for what they are. They cost £2.95 for a 1 litre box of juice. I think these smoothies are very overpriced, although they are nice, i dont think i will be paying this price for them again! At the moment they are on offer in tescos, 2 for £5 but even on offer i think they are just too expensive to be buying everyweek! You need to shake this smoothie well before you drink it, keep it refrigerated and once opened you need to consume it within 4 days, which isnt hard as it is gorgeous! I would recommend anyone to try these smoothies as they are delicious and so healthy, but personally they are too expensive for me, and i am going to invest in a smoothie maker and make my own in future!
When I saw the Innocent Smoothies were on special offer in our local Tesco's I decided that I would try one as Dave had bought one whilst shopping in Scotland and he loved it. Knowing that I like my smoothies he had recommended them to me, although for some reason I wasn't so sure, but I chose one to try. A bit of background information Innocent is a company that believes in sustainability. Their products are also 100% natural with their policy that 'if it isn't in nature it won't be in their products'. They use 100% recycled and renewable packaging and aim to be carbon neutral. What do they make? Smoothies - in litre cartons or 200ml bottles, these are made from 100% pure fruit juice. Smoothies for kids - in litre cartons or 140ml wedges, these are the same as the ordinary smoothies but slightly thinner, without any bits and in flavours aimed more towards children. Superfruit smoothies - in litre cartons or 200ml bottles, these are made from fruits specifically high in nutrients. Thickies - in 200ml bottles, these are made from live probiotic yoghurt, honey and real fruit. Orange juice - in litre cartons this is exactly what it says - pure orange juice. Pure fruit squeezies - tubes of pure fruit puree ideal for the children's lunchboxes. Veg pots - a meal in a pot made from vegetables, wholegrains, herbs and spices. Flavours I don't intend to go into all the various flavours here as it'll take me hours to write the review and you'll be bored silly reading it!! Suffice it to say that in their products you can find raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, bananas, kiwi fruit, mangos, limes, passion fruits, peaches, pineapples, blackcurrants, goji berries, blueberries, pomegranates, guavas and that's just a selection of the fruits available! At least everyone should be able to find a flavour that they like. For more information look at their website at http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/ Packaging As I said earlier the packaging is recycled and recycleable so that's great. The Innocent logo appears on all the packaging and this is what looks like a child's drawing of a face being just a ring with two dots for eyes and a halo above it. Each carton also has information telling you what exactly is in the drink and how many of your five portions of fruit and vegetables a day it will provide. There is also the full nutritional value and various other bits of information too. Which one did I try? Well I bought a litre carton of strawberries and banana smoothie which at the time cost me £2, although they are currently £2.94 or two for £4. I thought a litre would be good for me to take down to the prom on Sunday when I am working on the lifeboat stall to help keep up my energy levels. I read the information on the side of the carton to find that it contained 34 crushed strawberries, 6 pressed apples, 2.5 mashed bananas, 2 squeezed oranges, 19 pressed grapes and a squeeze of fresh lime. I also learned that 250ml of this product equated to two of my five a day, so drinking the whole carton during my day on the prom would actually give me 8 portions of fruit! I do realise that only 1 portion of your five a day should be from juice though as you don't get the full effect of the fibre needed when just drinking juice. I unscrewed the plastic top from the carton and poured some into my cup. I was initially shocked at the deep pink colour and general thickness - then I thought about what was in it and realised that was exactly how it should look! Silly me! I took a drink and was very impressed. Although there were tiny bits of fruit in it, the drink had a smooth almost creamy texture and it was delicious. The combination of the fruits was exactly right - they complimented each other perfectly. I drank the carton in four separate lots during the day and it really helped to keep my blood sugar stable whilst I was working and also helped to keep my energy levels up. Conclusion I shall certainly be trying other smoothies in the range and maybe some of the thickies too. I really enjoyed the one I tried and would recommend it without hesitation. They are also a great way of getting fruit into children to quote the Innocent website. There are quite a few of the small containers which will fit neatly into lunchboxes. So for good health, great taste and caring for the environment try Innocent products. You won't be disappointed.
I am a huge fan of the Innocent brand - drinking one of their smoothies makes me feel healthier instantly and also with the added bonus that they taste absolutely fantastic. They have provided a wide range of different varieties that simply taste fantastic and I always struggle to think of a favourite. Only downside and it is quite a big one is the price. These 1 litre carton are expensive and would be in anyone's eyes. Thankfully they are often on offer and on multi-buy special price and that is the reason that I usually have one carton in my fridge. At full price these cost over £3 a carton and I think that makes them totally unaffordable for most if bought as a daily juice. A family of four could easily demolish one of these at breakfast so I think for most these are probably an occasional buy or a special treat. My excuse at the moment for splashing out on these is that I am pregnant with my third baby. I have really suffered with nausea and basically only feel able to eat carbs and stodge. Therefore my diet has really suffered and I am not eating enough fresh friut and vegetables. I have found the Innocent Smoothies to be a great way of boosting my daily intake, as a glass of smoothie provides you with two of your five recommended portions of fresh fruit and veg. I love the fact that these smoothies contain absolutely no rubbish or hidden nasties, all you get is the goodness of 100% fruit. I do love most of the different varieties on offer but one of my long standing favourites is the Strawberry and Banana Innocent Smoothie. When scanning the supermarket shelves, it was the one that stood out to me as I love the combination of these two fruits. I wasn't disappointed with the drink itself. I poured myself a glass of this chilled rich pink red juice and could immediately see that the banana gave it a really thick texture. The taste was sensational, the strawberries and bananas provided a fabulously sweet flavour which I loved. I do have a very sweet tooth however and this particular one is too sweet for my husbands tastebuds. To sum up, I think this is a fab healthy product which I will indulge myself with while I am feeling a bit green.
