I am normally a red wine drinker but was recently persuaded to try a few glasses of Jacobs Creek semillion chardonnay by my wife. Before I tell you what I thought of the wine I'll give you a bit of background information. Jacobs's creek wines are produced in Southeastern Australia and are well known by most people. Their wines are widely available and there are often special offers. Semillion chardonnay is made by combining the two different varieties of grape together. Semillion has a citrus taste and chardonnay gives a creamy taste. Put the two together and you get a distinctive citrus creamy taste. This wine will go well with salads, fish or ... The new world do chardonnay-semillon well, combining the zing of the former and the rich honeyed flavour of the latter. However, this isn't really a terrific example of their craft. Don't get me wrong - it's not disgusting, it's perfectly fruity, refreshing and drinkable, just a bit boring. The chardonnay tastes positively peachy thanks to the hot growing conditions in Oz and the semillon adds plenty of sweetness (a bit too much for my tastes!). The whole thing is finished off with lashings of oak (again, a bit too much perhaps for my taste!) Like most supermarket wine, you get the feeling this is mass produced in millions of litres to be as ... Read the complete review

I’m not a very good wine drinker. Well, actually, I’m a GREAT wine drinker, in that I am able to consume great quantities of the stuff once I got started. Trouble is that I just don’t hold it very well. And the wine that I like not to hold very well best is Jacob’s Creek Semillon Chardonnay. I’m sipping a glass right now, in fact, so if I trail off subject mid-op and start telling you that you’re all my best friend, you’ll have to excuse me. Jacob’s Creek Semillon Chardonnay is from the South Eastern region of Australia, which is the area I believe the most Aussie wine comes from. Not that it matters to me ... Read the complete review

Dry white wine has been my tipple of choice for a good two years now. I find that a couple of glasses induces a heady feeling of wellbeing that you just don't get from drinking spirits, and it's somehow more indulgent to crack open a bottle - you really feel like you're treating yourself. Jabobs Creek Semillon Chardonnay is one of my all time favourite white wines. It's lemony, zesty and refreshing, with none of the unpleasant aftertaste you often get with oaky Aussie offerings. It has an unmistakeable sherbety tang, almost a fizz, but it is by no means lightweight - at 12%, finish the bottle and you'll definitely have a bit of a sore head ... Read the complete review

Wine glorious wine i could go around shouting all day, i just love drinking wine and have a small glass most nights. Red wine gives me a headache normally so i tend to drink white wine mostly. Normally i love Jacob's Creek and drink their wine often, however when i tried this Chardonnay i couldn't even finish the glass, and for wine drinkers you will know how rare this is! When i first filled the glass i could smell a distinct fruity fragrance which usually accompanies a good tasting wine. Unfortunately the first sip did not go down very well, i thought it tasted very thick and unlike wine should taste. It was extremely 'gloopy' and tasted like a was drinking ...
