Jameson 12 Year Old Special Reserve (formaly known as Jameson 1780) is a pot still whiskey made with a blend of malted and unmalted barley. It has a smooth yet full-bodied flavour. (the 1780 comes from the year Jameson was established) Like all Irish Whiskeys it is triple distilled unlike Scotch which is only distilled twice and bourbon which is distilled once. This third distillation adds the smoothness to the finished whiskey. The other main difference is how the grain is dried.
