... flavour is quite mellow, it's smooth enough to sip away the hours and certainly warms the back of your throat as it goes down. There's a slight sweetness to it too, with a kind of ginger type taste initially, followed by a delicious rush of other, almost fruit like, flavour. It all ends with the alcoholic warmth on the tongue, with a nice level of bitterness. J&B Rare was the whiskey that made me appreciate whiskeys in general. Before then, I'd only really tried Bells and the like, and not really rated whiskey as a drink. It just seemed too harsh and bitter for my tastes. I much prefered bourbons like Jack Daniels, for their sweetness and smoothness. However, this all changed when I went to a cousins wedding and had a glass of J&B forced upon me by extremely "merry" uncles.
