I've said it before and I'll say it again, France is not a country that one would immediately associate with beer, but they do brew it. Granted, not in the quantity of choice, and most definitely not in the quality, of the neighbouring countries of Belgium and Germany, but brew it they do. And since I was holidaying in France, it would have been churlish, not to say downright un-francophilical of me not to sample as many French beers as was humanly possible in that short space of time.
