Kalnapilis Original is a European pale ale from Lithuania, better on tap in my experience than in bottle or can but only available in the latter two in the UK to my knowledge.

Original is a crisp and fresh lager that pours a light golden colour, the head in the photo is exaggerated as I always get a small head which soon amounts to none at all!

There is nothing really remarkable about this beer and the can or bottle is rather unstylish, it's cheap though and can be bought for under 1 pound. It's better than the majority of beers in its price range and at 5.0% and made with completely natural products, it's unlikely to leave you with a hangover or a hole in your pocket!

It was awarded a golden medal at the Beer World Cup and whilst I wouldn't go that far, it's certainly not bad. It's a bog standard lager with a slightly sweet citrusy taste.

Kalnapilis Original is made by Royal Unibrew, a company based in Panevezys in the centre of Lithuania.

Summary: When the pennies are low, it could be worth buying one of these!
