Kasztelan is a sort of second-tier Polish beer not as common as the big names but still relatively easily to find and in most supermarkets and some bars, Kasztelan is from Sierpc, 120km north-west of Warsaw and was acquired by the Carlsberg group in 2001 having previously been owned by Bitburger, the German brewery. It is currently merged with Okocim and interestingly enough the beer is rather similar. Occasionally slagged off, I feel that Kasztelan gets an unhealthy wrap, perhaps because it is often served on the tap in the type of bar which doesn't clean their taps too often.
