Advantages: A lovely rounded coffee, very smooth, delicious smell, can be successfully used in cooking

Disadvantages: Gives me heartburn - but that's my fault as I know I should avoid coffee!

It is not often I drink coffee as it reacts badly with some medication I take and leaves me with awful heartburn. The thing is that, like anything that is bad for me, sometimes I crave it and that is when I reach for my jar of Kenco Really Smooth.

While it still gives me the heartburn, Kenco Really Smooth is the only coffee that doesn't make the condition unbearable and the resulting burn can easily be controlled with a swig of Gaviscon before and after drinking it.

It really is Really Smooth, in fact I'd go so far as saying it's one of the smoothest instant coffees on the market at the moment. I use one level teaspoon of coffee and make my cuppa with water that has just gone off the boil, I add a generous amount of semi skimmed milk and this makes for a lovely smooth cup of coffee that I really enjoy.

Kenco Really Smooth has a lovely rounded coffee flavour which goes down beautifully, the granules dissolve quickly and easily even when I have added the milk first. I say this because I used to drink Nescafe and found that when I added the milk to the granules before the hot water I would be left with lots of unappetising semi dissolved granules floating about in my coffee.

The aroma of Kenco Really Smooth is delicious, it obviously does not smell as strong as filter coffee but it fills my kitchen with a lovely welcoming smell of coffee.

I have also used these granules when making Coffee & Walnut Cake and the results are excellent, it's actually a very good coffee for cooking with as despite the smoothness of it the full bodied flavour lends itself well to all kinds of recipes.

You can also buy Kenco in a Really Rich variety which comes in the same jar, only blue rather than red. My daughter drinks this as she likes coffee strong enough to stand a teaspoon up in and it is a very rich drink.

I think I'll stick with the Really Smooth version though as it tastes delicious (especially when I dip a Digestive in it!) and doesn't make me quite as ill as other types!

From the supermarket Kenco Really Rich is priced at about £2.79 for the smallest jar, but there are a couple of larger sizes which will cost you between £4 and £6. Shop around though because I have noticed in smaller independant shops the jars are flashed at £2.59, which I know is only 20p cheaper but these days 20p is 20p!

Summary: It's definitely Really Smooth!

We're a Really Rich household as well. But any Kenco is better than Nescafe!
