Advantages: currently the special offer, the taste,
Disadvantages: Im drinking too much of it!
Im addicted to coffee, its my only vice and I wont apologise for it. Like many other addicts its the first thing that I reach for in the morning and the last thing that I reach for at night and Id say in between I have a cup every two hours. Id never actually thought about it before but writing it down makes me stop and think that perhaps I should try and curb this addiction slighltly in 2009.
Sometimes I do like a quick short fix so out comes the espresso cafetiere and my trusty Lavazza but when you need a long drink this just wont do so with that in mind along with the fact that I can drink instant but not espresso without sugar then to me the instant seems the opotion that should be better for me.
Im not too fussy with my instant coffee, afterall I work part-time and there is a free coffee machine so for a good part of the day I drinkwhatever is provided! At home I always had a jar of nescafe in the cupboard and then whatever was on offer in the supermarket that week (I mean it would never do to run out!)
Excuse me for a moment, Im off to make a coffee ........ slurp.... mmmmm... thats better , now where was I?
OK Kenco was on offer last week in Tesco for £3.00 for a 200g jar. I chose the Rich Roast which has a Royal blue label and lid.
When I buy a new jar Im like a kid with a new toy and I cant wait to finish the current jar. I love that first opening when you 'pop' the foil covering and are hit with that rich coffee smell and Kenco was by far one of the richer smelling ones! Ive had it for about a week now and am still sniffing it everytime I make a cup!
I use a generously heaped teaspoon per cup and this makes a strong mugful which would probably be too strong for most. I dont take sugar in instant and even so did not find this coffee bitter at all. Indeed its a pleasure to drink.
Kenco have been making coffee since 1923 and claim that only quality beans go into their rich roast including Arabica beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. By sourcing their beans from these farms Kenco ensure a better quality of life for these coffee communities, protecting their environment and the wildlife that depends on it. Kenco hope that by 2010 100% of their beans will be sourced from these communities. (Its currently 75%)
The jars are recyclable and currently contain 35% recycled glass. Kenco also sell their coffee in packets that use 97% less packaging that we can use to refill our jars/coffee pots, but on closer inspection of these the packets are not recyclable so Im not too sure where the benefits are.
Im certainly off to stock up on a few jars whilst on promotion as its around a £1.50 saving for an excellent product.
Summary: cant go wrong for an instant coffee
