Advantages: Nice fruity tasting squash or cordial always a favorite

Disadvantages: this variety not as strong in flavour so needs a bit more of it to satisfy the taste buds

Once again I found myself wandering around the Supermarket in Farmfoods and ambling around the store I noticed a bottle of Kia ora pear and blackcurrant squash. I thought to myself that I hadn't seen this particular one before and decided I would give it a try. It had the added benefit of my being able to write a review on it too.

So I get it home and now for the taste test.

The flavour is not too in your face as the orange variety I had tried before, it was much more subtle than that but I could still taste the blackcurrant and pear flavours. I found it very pleasant and so did my son who is very fussy on squash drinks of any kind. So finding one that he liked as well was a real bonus.
There are according to the label on the front of the bottle no added sugars in the squash. But I have looked at the ingredients and find there is aspartame and sodium sacharin.
This is a low calorie drink and according to the bottle these sweeteners are naturally occuring, so make of that what you will.

Ingredients :-
water, fruit juices from concentrates 16%, pear blackcurrant, citric acid, colour grape skin, anthocyanins, acidity regulators, E331, flavourings, sweeteners aspartame and sodium saccharine, preservatives E202, sodium metabisulphite, antioxidant, ascorbic acid, contains a source of phenylalanine.
contains no tartrazine.

This is a product from the Coca cola company run from Ireland and has been going for quite a long time although I have been unable to find out how long.

I found this 2 litre bottle cost me 99p on special offer in Farmfoods.

It is an interesting blend of flavours and I would buy it again. For those of you who like homemade icelollys you would need quite a bit of the actual juice to taste the flavour.

I found a 1 in 5 ratio about right.

Summary: blackcurranty and a hint of pear in this cordial squash, We enjoyed its subtle flavours
