I'd heard alot about this lager over time, obviusly i knew it was an Indian lager that is sold in alot of indian restaurants. Now im a big fan of curries and i imagined this being an excellent beer which is smooth, refreshing, easy to drink and can tame the burning of even the hottest of hot curries. Well i bought a fair few, being told that they were nice and being an imported eastern lager i had to get a few. Plus the fact that it was only £1.98 for 4 bottles in Asda along with Budweiser Budvar so i had to get a few of each, i couldn't refuse :D. Im a fan of Tiger which is another eastern lager that i love. So i was looking forward to having a sample of what ... Read the complete review

Kingfisher is a lager beer brewed in India and sold widely in the UK and North America. Since I have only sampled this product in the UK this review is based on that perspective. Not only will you find your local Balti House or Moghul eatery stocking this beer but you will also find some off-licences and supermarkets give it shelf space. Kingfisher is marketed as ... ’’ India’s best-selling premium lager....’’This Indian beer is certainly a good one and the export version has an alcohol content, by volume,of 5 %-so it is by no means weak. Just as importantly it has a full flavour and is smooth, creamy but seemingly ... Read the complete review

Last Saturday I was invited for a lunch party at an Indian restaurant. Usually I enjoy my Saturday lunches at home with a nice barbeque and some white wine. However since this was at a restaurant and being that wine was evidently not on our hosts menu. I decided to try some Kingfisher beer, which is so well prompted at most Indian restaurants. My previous encounter with Kingfisher beer was at least ten years ago when I visited India. I remember back then I started having a beer called Hawards 2000 but that was way too strong for me and I finally settled on Kingfisher for the rest of my time over their. It was always served in large glass bottles back ... Read the complete review

I once got into an argument with a bartender who didn’t have Kingfisher beer and was trying to hype ‘Buttons’ ( Burtons actually , but Buttons was how he pronounced it ) . His contention was that all beers were nothing but barley water and fizz and would shortly transform into similar colored ‘pizz’ . I retorted that maybe he had connected a pipe from the john to his spigot . I never did go back there again as his remarks reminded me of one of our Prime Ministers Morarjee Desai , a great advocate of recycling pizz . Kingfisher or KF as it’s termed here in Bangalore is the most popular beer , especially in South India . Apart ... Read the complete review

Kingfisher, coming from India, is bound to be associated with curry whether or not there's any real link. However, this is a full flavoured, almost fruity lager with enough bite to match a seriously spicy dish, very refreshing, and best of all, not too gassy so it doesn't make you feel too bloated to eat. Not a beer I'd recommend for a long drinking session as the taste can cloy after a while, but with a curry it's first class. It's very similar to Cobra, but to my palate it has a fuller fruitier taste which makes it that much better with assertive Indian flavours. ... Read the complete review
