Advantages: Yummy and refreshing, low acidity

Disadvantages: Tendency to forget you're drinking alcohol

I enjoy a nice cool cider once in awhile. I don't like beer at all, so cider is a nice option that isn't complicated (I do not want to own a several hundred page book just in order to mix myself a drink) or pink (just guaranteed to get me mocked). Last year I developed acid reflux and now have to be careful about acidic foods and drinks. Unfortunately I found myself feeling ill after drinking cider proper cider which is quite acidic. By this I mean a few minutes after drinking it, not the hangover type of ill! So for the last few months I'd been trying out various pear ciders and had tried Kopparberg's mixed fruits, which I don't love, when my husband came home from a quick trip to the store for comfort food bearing Kopparberg's Elderflower and Lime flavour.

At just 4% Kopparberg Elderflower and Lime is not a strong cider. This may have real benefits, which I'll review later. It is a clear, pale colour with a relatively small amount of carbonation. It can be found on the cider shelf along with the other Kopparberg flavours and the bottle looks exactly as pictured above so I won't write another 200 words on the labelling. I've only ever purchased it at Tesco, but haven't hunted extensively. It costs the same as pear cider (about £2) and the bottle I'm currently drinking was part of a buy 2 get the 3rd free sale. We find Tesco has regular sales on beer and cider that benefit both of our tastes.

Discovering Elderflower and Lime cider has been one of my happiest product finds this spring. The primary flavour is elderflower with the lime merely providing a background note. It tastes just like one would imagine, lightly carbonated elderflower cordial. It is very sweet which some traditional cider drinkers will find off-putting, but it is perfect for a girly drinker like myself! The only real problem is that one cannot taste the alcohol at all and I tend to down it as if I were drinking squash! Considering how quickly I get through it if I'm not concentrating on sipping slowly, it's a good thing that this cider is only 4%.

Summary: Great alternative to cocktails

Sounds good for me as I'm a total lightweight! And my fiance has just switched to cider from beer as he thinks he's intolerant to the wheat or something! So will look out for this!

I like the sound of the elderflower and lime, it's just the cider that turns me off. Yuk! ;-)
