No longer the stereotypical drink of chavs on street corners and farmers, cider has been given a classy image overhaul thanks to the likes of Magners and Bulmers. Kopparberg used to be a little known brand in the UK but it seems to have benefited from the image change and is now reasonably easy to find, and even easier to drink. Where to get it Kopparberg used to be hard to find and may not be stocked in your local offies however Tesco and Asda certainly stock it, Wetherspoons bars and an increasing number of pubs and clubs are waking up to its pear-shaped charms. The packaging Kopparberg comes in fairly chunky ... Read the complete review

Now let me get somethings straight before I even start this review, A:yes I do drink too much, B:I'm not a big cider drinker and C:Things always look better in 3's. What is Kopparberg? Well Kopparberg are a Sweedish cider company and also the brands name for the ciders they make. They currently do 3 flavours (Pear, Apple and one of which I've forgotten the name of). Sweedish? Didn't know they had any breweries in Sweeden? Well actually neither did I until I heard about this stuff, I'd heard from a few people that the pear cider was like mind bogglingly nice so after spending a few months hunting some down I tried it. Pear ... Read the complete review

Coming from Scrumpy land where cider home brew is an art form and an excellent fuel for starting a BBQ on a windy day and isn't just drunk by chav teenagers on street corners, I do feel a little like a traitor reviewing a pear cider over an apple one. But due to a cruel twist of fate I was diagnosed as being allergic to apples a few years ago (after a few years of snakebite and black consumption at university - apple cider and lager with a dash of blackcurrant for those who don't know- and wondering why I felt so ill next day - maybe it was just the amount I drank!) and so I didn't pay much attention to cider after that. Then over the last few years the Magners' ... Read the complete review

After writing about the non alcoholic version of this, i thought i would have a crack at the normal one. There is a big difference in the non alcoholic verson and this one, and i find that i prefer the one without alcohol. It just tastes better. Kopparberg is a very sweet perry, and one that i have found that most people don't like. Well most people who are regular drinkers. It must be to sweet for them. For me its just right. Its a little expensive. The cheapest ive ever found it was for £2.30 for a 500ml bottle. This was in my local Weatherspoons. I dont know how much it would be in others. However i have also found it in some places ... Read the complete review

This is probably the nicest alcoholic drink that I don't have to mix or get abuse for drinking at parties- read WKD Core or Rum & Coke. It has an exceptionally well-balanced flavour, with a distinct pear aroma and flavour, and it is sweet but not too sweet. Kopparberg Pear is unique in that I can drink large volumes of it for extended periods of time, and it still fails to bore me. It is also unique in that I haven't encountered many other drinks which make me forget that I am actually drinking alcohol. The drink is carbonated, but not very strongly so. It has a very good balance, in that it is not too fizzy to drink as soon as you open it but it doesn't ... Read the complete review
