Advantages: Tastes so damn good, Due to alcohol content almost guarenteed drunkeness

Disadvantages: Tres expensive, Guarenteed hangover

Who would have thought that something so fine and pure could emanate from France? The country that created Citroen’s can create the finest lager available on planet earth. When I enter a new alcoholic beverage purveyors establishment (pub), my eyes look longingly towards the beer taps…Carlsberg, Carling, Heineken and oh yes Kronenburg.

My addiction stems back to a lads booze cruise to St. Malo where we stayed in a campsite. Being English students it was, as always, a moral obligation to drink in extreme quantities. We scraped together enough French to ask the rather agitated French campsite owner where the closest supermarket was. We travelled in style to the ‘Champion’ supermarche (actual name) on our dishevelled bikes, with one massive basket and of course a union jack flag. We needed food desperately so we immediately went to the alcohol section. My jaw dropped, Kronenburg 24 pack for a fiver. We proceeded to reward our hard work by purchasing as much Kronenburg 1664 as it was humanly possible to transport.

Kronenburg after Kronenburg slipping straight down my throat, oh what pleasure, a pleasure multiplied by its relative cost. On returning home teary eyed and extremely hung over it was our duty to get as much beer as was humanly possible to transport. The next few months were just so good. But when it runs out there is a scary feeling that dawn on you, NOOOO!!! I have to pay British prices again. It roughly equates to about 5 times as cheap in France, what a delight.

But by now it was too late I was addicted to the stuff, it made such a change to the rather dull but thoroughly practical Carling that I had previously been drinking. Despite the ridiculously high prices I drank Kronenburg through thick and thin. Now I am penniless, I have to buy 24 packs of Carling for £12 from Asda, manoeuvring myself with some force past the beautiful Kronenburg.

One day I will return to France were
every day is a Kronenburg day. I might even visit the birthplace of this marvel in good old Strasbourg. Anyway if your pocket can support it allow yourself to indulge on what is a drinking marvel. Its strength and taste make it a formidable ally, but often it leaves you with memory loss and bad headaches, what more could you want from a beer.

Thank you Kronenburg for enriching my life with your delightful concoction.

Great op on the delight that is Kronenbourg 1664 (which is my favourite beer too, by-the-way).

I have to say I'm a big Kronenbourg 1664 fan myself. At my local Asda it is currently on offer at £7.99 for 24 stubby bottles.
Not as cheap as France, but a reasonable price for the UK (Stella is between £10 and £12 for the same 24 bottles, depending on where you shop)
