Advantages: Not overly expensive., Delicous., Looks quite cool.
Disadvantages: makes you sick if you drink 12 pints?
Once upon a time I felt that I would never find a beer I truly loved, a beer I could really sink into and enjoy at the end of a stressful day at Uni - or indeed in the middle of the day at Uni - Hell: Kronenbourg 1664 is a beer you could enjoy for breakfast at Uni!
Beers such as Carlesburg and Fosters tend to be weak and fizzy on tap (particulary when illegally diluted by students unions) and can be truly awful when drunk from a can. At the more expensive end of the scale we have Stella Artois - a rather arrogant larger which claims to be worth the extra money. Well it just isnt.
Stella is flowery and perfumey, with a rather unsatisfying texture to it.
Kronenbourg however is just the thing. It has a dark and clear colour and full-bodied taste. It leaves no bitter aftertaste and is truly delicous with a sophisticated contintal picnic or simply downed in the style of a moronic rugby player! The best way to drink Kronenbourg is of course delicously chilled, and I would advise either on tap, or better still bottled, which tends to be quite good value, and avoids the slightly unpleasent 'head' which may be found at the bottom of canned beers.
Overall Kronenbourg is a fine larger free from revolting preservatives or artifical carbonation, and may well be the best thing to come out of France since Vanessa Paradis. Vive to that!

- 12/07/02 Hmmmm...beer, I luurve Kronny. Stella makes me angry (it really does) and fosters and carlsberg are too weak. And don't get me started on Carling lager should NOT have a head on it, not after you've drunk half a pint of it, the head should go about 30 seconds after you sit down with it.
You'd probably like both Carlsberg Export & Heineken Export, they're both around 5%proof and exported beer being stronger is also slightly sweeter! YUM. To the pub at lunch now I think |
