Advantages: Tasty

Disadvantages: Makes me too happy

Here I go again giving another op about lager. Well, I’ve got to sample them all so I can give my opinion.

So tonight my tipple is Kronenbourg 1664. One of my favourite lagers is Stella Artois, but having sampled Kronenbourg I am now torn between the two. That’s up to now anyway, I still have a lot more beers to try.

Price comparison: At Sainsbury’s. Prices may vary from shop to shop.

Kronenbourg £ 4.49 x 4. 440ml cans. £1.13 a can (approx)
Stella Artois £ 3. 94 x 4. 440ml cans. £0.99 a can (approx)

If I had bought Stella I would have saved £0.55 on a 4 pack. As I said earlier though, I am torn between the two. So £0.55 is neither here nor there. I will not though but that Carlsberg again ugh.

The Kronenbourg can is navy blue, on the front of the can is a large white oval shaped rosette kind of a picture with red ribbons sticking out of it. In the centre of the rosette in navy blue writing are the words Kronenbourg 1664.

Shall I open the can now. Did you hear me pulling the ring pull or did you hear me shout because I’ve just broken my nail. Damn.

Well never mind let’s carry on, I’m gently pouring it now and the aroma is just about reaching my nose. A fruity kind of a honey smell.

As I am pouring I notice the colour it is a golden lightly sparkling yellowishy orange. There we are it is now poured. It is very hard to pour and type at the same time.

What a nice head it’s got, quite thick for a lager, very creamy and frothy. I can’t wait anymore I’ve got to try it. (I am telling a little fib here, this is my second glass. I had one earlier this afternoon)

Aah that tastes blinking good, It’s a clean crisp taste, it doesn’t taste like Stella it has a more flowery, fruity taste to it. With that little bit of kick added in. It is a bitter, smooth lager and it’s not over sweet, even tho
ugh I have said it’s flowery and fruity, what I mean is more of wild flowers and bitter fruits.
The hops that they use for Konenbourg are unique in their flavour, they also use hops from Alsace which are well known for their aromatic smell, taste and flavour. Very tasty.

I’m half way down the glass now and I still have a reasonable head on my drink. Thank goodness I hate a beer that goes flat straight away.

Kronenbourg is a French beer. It is brewed in the UK.

If you have any Questions about this beer you can contact the company at:

What more can I say, I ask myself. Yes the most important part of this op I nearly missed out.
This is a premium Lager and the volume is 5%.

It is best if you serve it straight out of the fridge nice and cold. This is certainly a lager not to be overlooked. You wouldn’t feel embarrassed offering one to your best mate.

Don’t forget I’m your best mate. CHEERS.
