Advantages: refreshing crisp taste, low calorie-count, smooth texture

Disadvantages: Expensive, can induce a sickly feeling after a few pints

Kronenboug Blank is a French imported wheat beer with a pale and cloudy appearance, and is available both on tap in bars and resteraunts and at most UK supermarkets. It has a crisp and fruity taste that will appeal to fans of Hoegarden and Staropramen, and is quite light, making it an excellent summer drink that goes well with salads and fish dishes.

At around £2.90 a pint in most bars and resteraunts its pretty expensive, but its sweetness means that more than a couple of pints can bring on a sickly feeling anyway and its lightness and refreshing taste make it an ideal drink to start with before switching to a cheaper and less sweet regular lager. 330ml bottles are available in supermarkets at around £1 each, whilst larger bottles cost twice that amount, and its a drink that really needs to be thoroughly chilled to properly enjoy.

It has a very smooth texture and goes well with a slice of lemon, whilst with only 107 calories per 250ml serving it is less fattening than an equal measure of most wines, meaning that moderate drinking can be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. At 5% ABV its a moderately strong lager, and is one thats best consumed slowly and in moderation. Rather too expensive to drink all that frequently then, but an excellent light beer all the same.

Summary: An excellent if rather expensive white beer

Kronenbourg is my favourite beer but I don't know if you consider the blanc one to be better than the original?

£2.90 is pretty cheap, I would have to look out to pay around £3.50 in London alone!
