Advantages: Great authentic lactose free dairy

Disadvantages: A tad more expensive than normal dairy

This company has saved me! Whilst soya products are good for those like myself who are allergic to milk, they lack the taste of real "cow juice".

Thanks to Lacto free I can finally have milk that is real dairy milk from a cow after seven long years. The taste is identical to that of real milk, yoghurt or cheese. I have tried four of their products so far and all of them are great and identical to the real deal.

"How do you know this?" you may, ask as I myself am lactose intolerant. Well my girlfriend and some friends also were interested to try these products, thinking that they would be substandard and not as good as the real stuff. So this is not from a totally bias, lactose intolerant reviewer's viewpoint.

None of my friends could tell the difference between the Lacto Free products or the original counterparts. The milk is identical to dairy milk, as is the cheese and the yoghurt. It is really quite outstanding as I never thought I would be able to have cheese again. I can now share a pizza with my girlfriend, have a lasagne or even just the classic cheese on toast.

Lacto Free has improved my life. I love cooking but I was limited to only non dairy recipes or dairy recipes where I could use unsweetened soya or the soya alternative to cream (as these two alternatives taste the same when in cooking). Now I can make almost any recipe and it really has made my life easier.

Now I sound like a fan boy so I will break it down by product and say why each is better:

Lacto Free Semi Skimmed and Whole milk

Well I have never been a fan of full fat milk myself but I did try it just to be sure, it is rich and condensed just like dairy whole milk. I find it a tad too sugary and it has the same negative drawbacks of dairy whole milk, in terms of being more fatty and unhealthy than its semi skimmed counterpart.
The semi skimmed milk is identical to semi skimmed dairy milk. I argue that this is better than soya milk because it tastes better in teas, coffees and milkshakes, as well as on cereal.

While soya milk did allow me to have a milk experience for seven years it did lack in flavour. Do not get me wrong, soya milk is good but it does have a distinct taste and it does taste different to dairy milk. When I became adverse to milk I began to have soya teas and they just didn't taste as nice as a tea with a hint of cow's milk. This meant that I had to have my tea black as well as my coffee.

Now Lacto Free is around I can enjoy the pleasures of cereal and drinks again as they are experienced by most other people.

Lacto Free Strawberry and Raspberry Yoghurts

To be honest soya yoghurt is not too dissimilar from dairy yoghurt; I cannot taste too much difference, sometimes none at all depending on the flavour.
This for me made the Lacto Free yoghurt the least interesting out of the four products that I found. Still this is not a criticism as they taste and have the texture of your standard smooth strawberry or raspberry youghurt.

Lacto Free Semi Hard Cheese

Now this is the product that really won me over. Real Cheese! Not being able to have cheese has been the drawback of many nights dining out and many cooking sessions for me. Since I have been lactose intolerant there have been many nights out to restaurants where nearly everything on the menu has included cheese, these restaurants were a selection of Italian, Spanish and of course Pizza restaurants. Often these have been parties or celebrations that I could not really turn down.

A small variety of restaurants have the habit of writing their menus in a foreign language, which for me who is allergic to a fair selection of substances is a large disadvantage. I often order something that has "no dairy" but is filled with cream or milk. I also sometimes brave it and think "Oh a little dairy will not hurt. Then in both situations I get very sick pretty quickly and put a negative dent in what should have been a good night out.
Whilst Lacto Free won't help me in my restaurant travels maybe, one day it will.

More importantly this product can help me at home. I can now experience the food that people dine on in a restaurant and have cheese based meals once again, which may mean that i do not have the craving to try it when if should not.

My girlfriend also loves her cheese based meals, such as cheesy pasta, pizza, lasagne and as a topping to many meals. Now I can actually cook these meals for us both to enjoy rather than making separate dishes.

Lacto Free Soft White Cheese

Is also a great product that is identical to cream cheese that can be used as a lovely spread, which is rich in flavour. The cream cheese is great when spread on crackers or on a bagel with cucumber.

In short Lacto produucts have improved my life and made my cooking easier.

Summary: Probably the best lactose substitute on the market
