Lambrini

Description: Light perry, manufactured in Liverpool by Halewood International.

... to the teenagers and alcoholics of the world! Yes, some people do actually like the taste of it, but that is a very small minority. It looks like a cheap wine, but it tastes like a mix between a really, really cheap wine, and full strength cider. It is quite harsh on your throat and has a sickly, yet tangy taste. I took a sip and couldn't drink any more of it as it was. I added lemonade, but you still had the background taste. I then added blackcurrant squash (remembering my teenage years!), but it still had that...more

Premium Review Lambrini: bubbly fun (632 words)

i like cider. I like wine. I love this. Coincidence? well not really. You see, this is technically a cross between the two. It is a perry, which drinks similarly to a sparkling wine, but is actually a drink made from fermenting pears, in the same way that apples are fermented to make cider. Clever, isn't it? The bottle - It has recently had a makeover, and is no longer sold in the bottle that you see in the picture. It is now slightly thinner bottle, which is good because the larger bottle is very bulky. the logo is similar to the old one, as the company was told by its customers that they liked it. The label around the neck is gone, and the top ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Pear Juice With Attitude (439 words)

Lambrini isn't a bad drop of wine... but then again it's not actually a wine at all. Made from pears, it's what is known as Perry, and is basically the equivalent of cider, only made with pears rather than apples. Perry has to be made from special Perry pears, just as West Country cider is made from cider apples, and Perry pear trees are quite rare and found mainly in just three counties (Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire). Anyway, putting useless trivia aside, Lambrini is a sparkling alcoholic drink made by a UK company called Halewood. At 7.5% abv (alcohol by volume) it's not the strongest contender on the market, but you'll find with it's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lambrini girls just want to... throw up! (419 words)
by - written on 21/11/09 (Very useful, 52 readings)

Oh dear, I knew there was a reason that I had not bought this since the age of 16. I am a Bacardi/Vodka and Diet Coke kinda girl. I'll have the odd glass of wine if I feel like it, and a gallon or so of mulled wine at Christmas... but other than that, I'm not a big wine drinker, lol. Actually, I'm not really sure why I am talking about wine, as Lambrini is not really a wine. Most people class it as a 'sparkling wine' but it is actually labelled as 'sparkling perry'. I'm not really sure what'perry' is... but it sure ain't wine!!! Lambrini is one of the cheapest drinks you can buy. I bought a huge 150cl bottle for £2.50 from my local ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lovely light drink for when you want something fresh and fru ... (467 words)
by - written on 14/09/09 (Very useful, 96 readings)

When I drink, I'm generally a little bit of a tomboy - a pint of real ale or an ice cold lager swigged straight from the can . Occasionally I feel a little more girly, and want something light, fizzy, and fruity to drink . On those occasions, Lambrini is often my drink of choice. Despite looking like a bottle of screw top wine , Lambrini is actually not wine, but perry. It's almost like a cider, but made from pears instead. Until a few years ago, you could only get the original flavour, but now there are a few more - Cherry, Peach , Rose, Bubbly, and Bubbly Pink. They've also done a fair bit of TV advertising recently, and the combination of these has made it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lambrini: Unfairly criticised wine (338 words)
by - written on 05/09/09 (Very useful, 42 readings)
Rating:

Lambrini has a reputation for being a cheap and nasty wine that's of very low quality and a drink that "chavs" buy in bulk. This reputation isn't particularly earned, though - it's a nice tasting, very cheap alternative if you're on a poundstretcher budget but still fancy getting a bit merry. In supermarkets, they tend to cost around £1.6 for a 750ml bottle, which of course, is a steal. I think people just get put off by the name and reputation, because I'm sure if people gave it a blind taste test, they'd probably say that it was very nice indeed! It has a sweet tang that's not as dry and strong as a lot of other wines - instead it is more like a ...  Read the complete review
