Advantages: makes you merry
Disadvantages: none in my opinion
I just couldn’t keep my cotton picking thieving paws off it. What? I hear you ask. The bottle of Lambs Navy Rum sitting in my cupboard. I bought it last week ready for Christmas. I buy a bottle of spirits every week from now until Christmas. Then I don’t have to lay out large sums of money all in one go. Temptation, miserable weather and greed got the better of me. This gorgeous tasting rum is aged in oak casks and has a mixture of rums from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad. Using these Caribbean rums is what gives it it’s unique taste. The bottle is an unusual shape too, it’s not round, it’s not triangle I know that for sure. I am hopeless with shapes is it a hexagon that has got 6 sides. Well, whatever it’s got 6 sides. Oh, who gives a damn. On the front of the bottle is a label spanning three sides. In big black writing is the word Lamb’s. In white underneath a picture of a flag it has the word Navy. Under that in gold writing is of course the word rum. I bought it from Tesco The price was £11.37 for 70cl. Prices may vary from shop to shop.It is 40% so you only need a couple of drinks, unless of course you want to get sloshed. The good thing with rum is that I never get a hang over, or headache. Want to know more? The colour of this particular rum is a deep reddy-brown. Rums come in a lot of different colours from white rum, which is the same colour as water to rums that are of a very dark chocolate colour. Mmmm the smell and the taste. When you first smell it you will notice sort of a buttery, caramely aroma. Don’t be fooled though, when you take a drink of it you will notice that it’s slightly hot to the palate, but not excessively hot, it just slips down your throat. (Not like some spirits that give off a burning sensation) It has got a lot of depth to its flavour and there is a distinct aftertaste of caramel. <
br>To really enjoy a good rum it should be taken neat or over ice. Having said that rum can be served many different ways. You can serve it with your favourite mixer, rum and coke usually goes down well. You can also make loads of different cocktails that go down well with the ladies. Lets forget the ladies now and think of the Navy who gave every sailor a tot a day. (2 ounces) it was considered as a health ration. I have tried lots of different rums through out my life time and I must confess when I was in Barbados I got to love Mount gaye rum, but that was there, with all of that beautiful sea and sun. When I’m over here I’ll stick with Lamb’s. I have never had any complaints about this brand of rum but, if you have any questions or complaints the address to contact is: Allied Domecq Prewetts Mill Worthing Road Horsham West Sussex RH12 1ST If you don’t want to drink rum, you can always use it as a preservative like they did with Nelson. He died on his ship during the famous Battle of Trafalgar and his body was preserved in a cask of his favorite rum, until it was time for his burial. Happy drinking folks ;o) BUT WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.
