I don't drink Lilt so much now because it's not always the easiest to find. That, and a rather debilitating addiction to Dr. Pepper, which I swear is laced with cocaine, has kept me at an arm's length from most all soft drinks since it first touched my lips many years ago. Nevertheless, Lilt is a tangy, delightful fizzy drink that really evokes a sense of relaxation and of Summertime.

The drink tastes of pineapples and grapefruits, and some care was clearly taken in mixing the two, because the ratio, the composition - everything - is perfectly mastered to maximise the lovely taste. It has a very pungent and strong taste that is undeniably sweet, but never enough that it becomes a hindrance or TOO much that way.

Like all fizzy drinks, it's not particularly good for you in high doses - 1 litre has 200 calories and almost 50g of sugar, the latter of which is utterly ridiculous, even compared to other fizzy drinks! Still, once again, it's a case of properly handling it in moderation, in which case you'll be fine to treat yourself to this tropical delight every so often.

With a strong, punchy taste, and a memorable and eye catching design (which screams "Summertime!" about as loudly as any soft drink on the market), Lilt may not be the most popular of all soft drinks, but it's one of the tastiest for sure. It rarely is the first in the standees in shops like Dr. Pepper, Coke and Fanta seem to be (despite the fact that it tastes far nicer than Fanta!), but it's got a unique brand identity and a wonderful, if absurdly sugary taste to it.
