Advantages: Tasty , good value , refreshing , healthy ? , no nasty additives , convenient
Disadvantages: None for me
I haven't a bottle or can of Lipton Iced Tea in front of me to give you any details but I am very familiar with this product . Up to last week it had been part of my daily beverages for a fortnight . Whilst holidaying in tthe Algarve I found that the hot ,hot ,hot weather made me incredibly thirsty . Of course there's always a nice cold beer but long term alcohol is supposed to dehydrate you in hot weather :The ice cold , bottled mineral water was refreshing but bland and nothing to write home about : Fizzy lemonades were only piling on the holiday pounds at record rate and coffee leaves me feeling thirsty .
Enter Lipton Ice Tea .It can be purchased in small or large bottles or cans . It is served in restaurants and cafes in a long chilled glass with the regulation straw . Traditionally it is lemon flavoured and that is the one that I have drunk in England . However it also comes in other flavours such as mango , green apple and peach .These taste great and have just the right amount of flavour . However for sheer thirst quenching refreshment the lemon tea wins hands down .
Here is a part of Lipton Ice Tea's advertising bumpf :
'Lipton Ice Tea is a deliciously refreshing soft drink made with real tea, blended with water and fruit flavours.Because it's made from real tea leaves, Lipton Ice Tea is a source of antioxidants. It also has 35% less sugar than most regular soft drinks and absolutely no artificial colouring, preservatives or sweeteners'.
Looking at that I guess the ice tea is pretty good as well as tasting great . Certainly Lipton's latest advertising campaign stresses the facts that their product is natural and full of anti-oxidants . This campaign also seems to be aimed at a younger market and has had some success .
For me it was a really tasty thirst quencher for my long hot summer days . The taste is hard to describe . It does not taste like cold tea with lemon added . It almost has the taste of a shandy without the fizz . The best way to discover the taste is to try it yourself . If you have never drunk Lipton's Ice Tea you should be in for a delicious surprise . If you have , try one of the newer flavours and see what you think . There is a Lipton Lemon Light available these days and it only has 1 calorie and 1g of sugar per 100mls plus . Of course the bonus is , it is convenient and can be drunk anytime , any place .
Depending on which flavour you buy Lipton Ice tea comes in :
325ml glass bottles, 250ml, 500ml, 1.25L PET bottles and 6x330mL cans . You can also buy individual 330ml cans . The amount of flavanoid anti-oxidants varies depending on the flavour also .
A few facts
'At the age of 40 , in 1880 ,Sir Thomas Lipton decided he would make a range of teas which would be available for the masses . Up to this time tea had been one of the many priviledges enjoyed by the wealthier folk . In 1893 he established a tea packing company that's headquarters where in Hoboken , New Jersey . In 1898 after becoming highly successful Queen Victoria knighted Thomas Lipton and he became a Sir .The company went from strength to strength and has quite an interesting history '.
Still we are here to talk about Lipton Ice Tea . I for one recommend this refreshing drink and give it 10 / 10 . Even Hubby who is known to dislike herbal teas or anything like iced tea became hooked . To enjoy this drink fully serve and drink it chilled , preferably whilst relaxing on a red hot summers day whilst admiring a spectaular view . Heaven .
Thanks for reading
