 ... was reasonably enough priced to give it a try without a tasting. John Locke and Co. Ltd. is based in Kilbeggan and the label indicates it was established in 1757. Indeed it claims to be the World’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery. I really like Irish Whiskey. I have been a fan of Powers Gold label and the various Bushmills varieties, particularly their Single Malt, for years. OK, I know Bushmills comes from Ulster, not the Republic, but it still counts as Irish in my view. Of course, the most well-known is probably Paddys and, as Irish Whiskeys go, it’s not bad. Recently we had a long weekend in Granada and, to pass the time at Gatwick whilst we waited for our flight, we did a tour of the various shops. One of these shops is the whisky shop.
